How hard it is for us
“to come to believe
that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God, and
that through this belief
you may have life in
his name.”
Many of us are much like Thomas wanting hard evi-
dence. If we were detectives, we would go to the scene
and look for clues. Since the event was over 2,000
years ago, all we have is a Gospel story of Jesus’ mys-
tical presence in the upper room.
Perhaps that is our first clue. We need to look for the
mystical in our prayer and meditation. If we can find
that upper room and wait there, perhaps evidence will
appear to us. Then we can kneel before him and say
with Thomas: “My Lord, and my God!”

A special Thank You to all who made
our Holy Week celebrations very
meaningful. We are especially grateful
to those who cleaned, decorated, read,
and served and those who donated
flowers for decorating. We are happy
to see our growing Music Ministry and
appreciate their efforts to make our lit-
urgies special. Thank you to all parishioners who made
an effort to fully participate in all the Holy Week
services. Our community is truly blessed by the many
volunteers and the wonderful cooperation we receive.

ANNUAL TURKEY & HAM ROLL UPDATE
This year’s Ham Roll was another over-
whelming success! Gross revenue was
just over $20,000.00 - with expenses and
prize payouts, we cleared over
$16,000.00. Profits from the event go
towards our debt reduction. Congrats to
Leiyla Bahbahani who was the winner of
the 50/50 draw. The evening was great fun and the
turnout of parishioners and the local community was
amazing! We thank all who attended to support this
event! It really brought the community together.
A huge THANK YOU, to the entire fundraising com
-mittee and all the parish and community volunteers
who worked tirelessly and joyfully to execute this
event! Planning meetings were fun, comradery was
wonderful and the team’s efforts were well rewarded
with the witness to people having a good time at the
Turkey and Ham Roll. See you next year - April 4th.
FEAST OF DIVINE MERCY
During the course of Jesus' revelations
to Saint Faustina on the Divine Mercy
He asked on numerous occasions that
a feast day be dedicated to the Divine
Mercy and that this feast be celebrated
on the Sunday after Easter. The
liturgical texts of that day, the 2nd
Sunday of Easter, concern the institu-
tion of the Sacrament of Penance, the
Tribunal of the Divine Mercy, and are
thus already suited to the request of Our Lord. This
Feast, which had already been granted to the nation of
Poland and been celebrated within Vatican City, was
granted to the Universal Church by Pope John Paul II
on the occasion of the canonization of Sr. Faustina on
30 April 2000. In a decree dated 23 May 2000, the
Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of
the Sacraments stated that "throughout the world the
Second Sunday of Easter will receive the name
Divine Mercy Sunday, a perennial invitation to the
Christian world to face, with confidence in divine
benevolence, the difficulties and trials that mankind
will experience in the years to come." These papal
acts represent the highest endorsement that the Church
can give to a private revelation, an act of papal infalli-
bility proclaiming the certain sanctity of the mystic,
and the granting of a universal feast, as requested by
Our Lord to St. Faustina.
This weekend as we come to celebrate the Feast of
the Divine Mercy, at the end of each Mass, we will
recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
You are welcome to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday
at St. Joseph Parish in Grimsby, on Sunday April
28th @ 2:30 p.m. There will be a Holy Hour with
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the prayerful
recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet and individual
confessions as well.
A plenary indulgence can be obtained by those who
receive Holy Communion, make a true confession, pray
the Divine Mercy chaplet during the Hour of Mercy
and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father and the
conversion of the whole world.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS - FORTYCANS FOR LENT
Over the season of Lent, the KofC Council 15999
coordinated “Forty Cans for Lent”. Through this pro-
gram, the students and staff of St Edward, St Mark and
St John Schools collected 1,425 pounds of food which
provides the equivalent of 1,777 meals for clients of
Community Care West Niagara (CCWN).
