Flying V Time 10-15min

Equipment Per • 1x ball per team


Group • 6x markers per team
• 2x markers for try line
Instructions • Teams of 6
• Line teams up diagonally as shown
• The top player starts with the ball
• Teams pass the ball down the line to the last player who
runs to the try line and completes a try
• After scoring the player with the ball gathers it and runs
back to the first cone
• All other players move down a marker
• Drill repeats until all players have scored a try

Variations/ • Swap sides to change direction of pass

Semi-Circle Passing Time 10-15min
Equipment Per • 1x ball
Group • 6 markers
Instructions • Groups of 6
• Students positioned in a semi-circle with one person in
the middle (leader)
• Ball is passed backward and forwards from the leader to
each person in the circle
• Once everyone has passed the ball the leader swaps
• Drill continues

Variations/ • Left/ right sided pass

Spare Square Time 10-15min
Equipment Per • 4x markers
Group • 1x ball
Instructions • Groups of 4
• Set up a 3m2 area with cones
• 3 players stand on a separate marker each (attackers)
• The 4th is in the middle defending
• The attackers must pass the ball to each other on each
side of the square, not diagonally
• Players can’t run with the ball
• If the ball is intercepted the player who last touched the
ball swaps with the defender

Variations/ • Type of pass (spinning or tumbling)

2v1 Time 10-15min
Equipment Per • 1x ball
Group • Markers
Instructions • Groups of 4
• 1 defender and 3 attackers
• 1 attacker to act as feeder
• The feeder picks up a ball and passes it to a teammate
and then backs away out of the drill
• It is now 2v1
• The 2 attackers must work together to get the ball to the
try line
• The defender tries to affect a touch or intercept the ball
• Rotate positions
