National Fishworkers Forum Condemns the Violence Unleashed by Terrorist Attacks on Easter Day
in Sri Lanka
National Fishworkers Forum from India mourns the loss of over 300 people who died in the Easter
Day terrorist attack in Sri Lanka. NFF and its affiliated Fishworkers unions, communities and workers
vehemently condemn this act of terrorism that targeted innocent local civilians and tourists.
Religious terror, hatred and violence will not be tolerated and we condemn those who orchestrated
it.
We must overlook any and all manipulations of information and come together to pledge that no
place of worship, no community, no innocent person should function in fear. This incident in the
wake of ongoing conflicts across the globe is indicative of growing intolerance, hatred and war
mongering. Such acts of terror on a holy day pose a threat to the peaceful practice of all faiths. We
cannot allow our freedoms to be muted by actions of coward terrorists. We also urge the citizens of
Sri Lanka to not fall prey to the divisive forces that operate within society by targeting particular
communities as responsible instead of the people who actually committed the crime.
We call for immediate arrests of those behind this horrific act and that justice is given to the families
of the slain. Our hope is that the authorities can met out justice and have zero tolerance for the
perpetrators of this crime. We extend our condolences, our strength and solidarity to Sri Lanka.
Yours faithfully
