Planning
In this activity, my students are going to use MySimpleShow to create
a Presentation on a person of their choice .
Pedagogy Activity 1. Begin this portion of class by asking if
any of the class has heard of Web 2.0
tools.
2. Give them a brief description of Web 2.0
tools and show them a few examples
using the website
www.schrockguide.net/online-tools.html .
3. After showing them the examples I will
ask my students how many of them have
used a computer to complete an
assignment for school.
4. I will let let them know that they are about
to have a blast using the computer for
school work.
5. Will tell the kids that they are going to
create a presentation on one of the people
listed-their choice.
6. The students will choose one person to
present on.
7. I will tell them that there are a few
requirements they have to include in this
presentation:
a. Person’s Name
b. Date & Place of Birth
c. Family information
d. One or Two events from their lives
e. Their contribution to America
f. At least 2 Pictures included in the
presentation!
8. We will get out the computer and log on.
9. The kids will watch as I log onto
MySimpleShow and look at my example
presentation.
10. I will give my students in depth directions
and let them know we will work on this
assignment for one hour in class but the
rest is to be completed either at home with
their parents, or periodically throughout
freetime in the class.
11. I will remind them that all the information
they need is in their textbooks.
12. It is not due for another week.
13. I am ready and willing to help them create!

site called MySimpleShow to create a short story
about their person of interest.

Directions for MySimpleShow project!

1. Click on your internet browser (Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer)

2. In the search bar type in “www.mysimpleshow.com”

3. In the right corner you will see a picture of a friendly computer. Hit the word “Log in”

4. Type in the login. Username:byrdsclass2020 Password: friendlydog0202

(Username: kbyrd009@odu.edu Password: Kbright!00)

5. Click on the “Create New Video” link

6. Type in your name and the person you chose to learn about in the “Name your Project”

box

7. Click on the “Write your own script” option

8. You will get to a screen that tells you to “Find your Storyline”

9. There will be 3 rectangles at the top that read “Professional”, “Educational”, and

“Personal”....HIT EDUCATIONAL
10. Pick

the “Summarize a famous person’s autobiography” option

11. You will start with your draft first.

12. In the first box, The title page, you will type in the name of your person.

13. In the second box, “Meaning”, you will type in their contribution to America.

14. In the third box, “Background”, you will type in their date & place of birth and some family

information.

15. In the fourth box, “Life Events”, you will type in the two events from their lives you found

in the textbook.

16. In the last box, “End”, you will wrap it up and summarize everything.

17. After you finish writing your draft, click on the orange box at the bottom that says

“Choose Visuals”!

18. They will show a bunch of clip art pictures that you can either keep or delete. Pick ones

that go with your story!

19. After choosing your visuals, you will click “Finalize video”, it may take some time-Be

patient bud!
20. You are now an author!
