Pols 2200 Comparative Politics Reflection

Comparative politics was a truly informative class that pushed me outside of my typical

international interests. I tend to enjoy researching European history and how the actions of those

countries affected world history. Thankfully the other students participated in class discussions

and added valuable counter-arguments to my own ideas. Reading and discussing questions about

non-European, developing countries like Nigeria and Iran expanded my understanding of

developing countries and how their history shaped them. The structure of other national

governments was another crucial topic because I was unaware of the different types of

governments, even within democracies. Since I want to work in international political relations,

learning about the various political and social issues each country is dealing will be an essential

part of my career and this was a fantastic introduction.
