To Whom It May Concern:

Paris Puuri is the kind of student any teacher would be privileged to have in the classroom, and I
am no exception. She is a delightful person, eager to learn, and always puts forth the highest
effort to excel in her classes. I believe these traits qualifr her not only as an excellent candidate
to teach at the secondary music education level, but a capable young woman, who would be an
asset at any place of employment.

I have known Paris since the fall semester of 2015, when she became a Flute Major in the NMU
Music Department working towards a Music Education degree. It has been a pleasure teaching
her in a one-on-one setting in my Woodwinds in Performance flute studio. This class included
individual weekly lessons, using representative solos and technical exercises to develop tone,
embouchure, breath control and articulation, etc. In my class, Paris has always been serious
about practice and ready for any challenge I put before her. Her outstanding attendance record
made our course of study together that much more rewarding. In addition, her musicianship has
improved consistently over the years. I am proud of her successes, and to see her hard work,
diligent time management skills and organizational abilities come to fruition.

As a Flute Major, in addition to performing in departmental musical ensembles such as orchestra,

symphonic band and wind symphony, Paris has been required to perfoffn once each semester
from freshman to senior year, on a joint student recital with other students, for which I prepared
her. All of her performances were successful, well-received and her stage etiquette was
impressive. She improved each time in her ensemble abilities, and possessed good
communication skills with her accompanying pianist.

This April, in front of the Music Department faculty, friends and family, Paris performed her
capstone project-the required Senior Recital. On this program, she played 4 standard classical
works from the flute repertoire, accompanied by Dr. Nancy Zimmerman, piano professor on our
faculty, and a duet for two flutes with me. It was a rewarding experience working directly with
her on this event, giving her feedback, and overseeing rehearsals.

Aside from being bright and motivated, Paris' helpfulness and friendliness to other students has
been apparent since day one. After four years of interacting with her at Northern Michigan
University, I am confident that she will continue to achieve important goals in the future.
Therefore, I enthusiastically support her in whatever endeavors she chooses to pursue, and highly
recommend that you do the same.
