1. INTRODUCTION

To reach a goal, people must have enough activation and energy, a clear objective
and the capacity and disposition to use their energy for a period of time what long
enough to reach his goal.

2. CONTENT

Motivation is an aspect of importance in different areas of life, including education

and work, for example, guiding actions and is thus shaped as a central element
that leads to the person performing and for what objectives it's related. According
to Santrock (2002), motivation is the set of reasons why people behave the way
they do.

In this way, you can define motivation as the process by which you can use an
objective, use the appropriate resources and maintain a certain behavior, in order
to achieve a goal. According to Bisquerra (2000):

Motivation is a theoretical-hypothetical construct that designates a complex

process that causes behavior. In motivation intervenes multiple variables
(biological and acquired) that influence the activation, directionality, intensity and
coordination of behavior aimed at achieving certain goals.

Herrera, Ramírez, Roa and Herrera (2004) indicate that motivation is one of the
most important explanatory keys of human behavior with respect to the reason for
behavior. That is, the motivation represents what originally determines the person
who initiates an action (activation), is directed towards an objective (direction) and
persists in reaching it (maintenance).

These authors, after compiling the opinions of many others, formulate the following
definition of motivation:

We could understand it as a process that explains the beginning, the direction, the
intensity and the perseverance of the behavior directed towards the achievement
of a goal, modulated by the perceptions that the subjects have of themselves and
the tasks that they have to face.
The hierarchy of needs of Abraham Maslow expresses the idea that until the
moment they are satisfied, some motives are more important than others.

According to the author, human beings have a series of basic needs that must be
satisfied beforehand.

He ordained human needs in the form of a pyramid, where the base contains the
basic needs and the peak that need to be reached once we have satisfied the rest.

3. VOCABULARY

MOTIVATION: the act or an instance of motivating, or providing with a reason to

act in a certain way: I don't understand what her motivation was for quitting her job.

EMPOWERMENT: Empowerment is based on the idea that giving employees

skills, resources, authority, opportunity, motivation, as well holding them
responsible and accountable for outcomes of their actions, will contribute to their
competence and satisfaction.

ACTIVATION: Use the noun activation to describe the process of turning on or

starting something, or energizing someone. A missing cat might inspire
the activation of a neighborhood search party.

ADDRESS: The definition of an address is a written or verbal statement, or the

physical location of something.

4. CONCLUSIONS

There are three fundamental perspectives about motivation: the behaviorist, the
humanist and the cognitive.

The perspective behavioral emphasizes that the rewards motivate behavior and
direct the attention of people towards appropriate actions and the distance from
inadequate ones.

The perspective humanist emphasizes human capacity to grow, personal qualities

and freedom of choice. Cognitive theory emphasizes in ideas and considers what
the person think that it can happen is important because it determines what
happens.
