Project Proposal
Do you ever remember trying to think of an idea for a project and you couldn’t ever think
of one? Did you struggle to finish the project because you struggled coming up with an idea? I
had the same problem as everybody does in this life. After a lot of thinking, I have decided to
create a tradition for Copper Hills that would help every student in a time of crisis. I will be
creating a list and a video for every student to help create a little emergency kit in case of an
emergency.

At the beginning of each year, I would like every teacher to show a video about the
importance of being prepared in case of an emergency. I would also like the teachers to pass out
a paper containing the most vital parts of an emergency kit.

Teachers will receive a stack of papers containing information about what is vital to have
in an emergency kit. These kits will be small and in plastic bags, they should contain things like
foods that don’t expire fast and things that will stay good for a school year. The main purpose of
the kits will be for situations like if we have a lockdown or a situation come up where students
won’t be allowed to leave the school.

I also would like teachers to have their own first aid supplies in the classroom. I would
love for every teacher to have things such as band-aids, gauzes, flashlights, a working radio, and
batteries, etc. These will also be vital to having for an emergency situation where help may not
arrive for some time.

The biggest concern about doing these small little kits is students may not be able to
afford things to put in the little bags or they may not want to make a kit. To resolve this problem,
students won’t be required to have a kit but it would be an important thing to have. If students
want one and can’t afford it they will be able to go down to the office and talk to the secretaries
and get my number and contact me personally and I will help them out and make sure they get a
kit.

Another thing I would like to add to the school is an actual emergency preparedness class
that students can take as an elective. In the class they would learn what to do in an emergency.
They would also make their own 72 hour kits in the class that they can take home with them.

I will be spending a lot of time talking to people and creating a powerpoint for the
teachers. I will also spend some time creating kits as examples that students can look at. The
main purpose of this project is to make sure that students can be prepared when it comes to an
emergency situation appears.

In conclusion, this project will help students feel more comfortable in an emergency
situation and be prepared for it. It will also give the students the opportunity to learn and be
prepared for any situation. They can also implement this into their own lifes as well!
