Directions: answer the following questions in complete sentences using the links on
schoology.

1. What are Newtons 3 laws of motion?

1. Every object that is in a position will stay in that position unless afected by
and external force
2. The force of an object equals the mass of an object times its acceleration
3. For every action, there is an opposite and supposed equal in force reaction

2. What is the scientific process?

The scientific procces is having a question, making a hypothises, devising an

experiment, completing said experimant, rocording your ansews, and creating a theory
or law about it.

3. What are variables? What is a dependent and independent variable?

Variables are parts of a experiment or equation. The Indepentdent variable is the
variable that is only changed by the experimentor, and will afect other variables, not be
affected. The depentdent variable is what is being affected by the indipendent varable.
4. If you were to drop an egg from a high elevation, what do you PREDICT would
happen?

I predict that the egg would fall, gain momentum and speed, and upon hitting the ground
the egg would break

5. What is gravity? What is the speed of gravity; how fast would an unprotected egg
fall?

Gravity is a force made by large objects, that pulls others to it. The speed of gravity is
about 9.8 meters per second. An unprotected faling egg would fall at about 9.8 to 9.7
meters per second because it experiences air resistance

6. Will the egg ever reach the speed of gravity(aka free fall)? Why or why not?

It will not because terminal velocity will slow it down before it can. The speed of gravity
is not a thing.

7. What is air resistance? And what are the 2 most common factors that have an
affect of air resistance?

Air resistance is the air molecules slowing down incoming objects. The two main
common factors are acceleration and top speed.

8. Why do more massive objects fall faster than less massive objects?

Larger objects have a falller falling speed (USUALLY) because their high mass afects
them less that. Also momentum will play a bigger roll as it is hard to stop a object with
moe momentum
9. What is momentum? How is it changed?

Momentum is the force of an object. Momentum increases as the speed increased, and
a object with more mass will have more momentum.

10. What is an impluse?

An impulse is a sudden force applied to an object. A axample could be the explosion of

gunpowder quickley pushing a bullet down the barrel.

11. There are 3 collisons in a crash, what are they and explain what happens.
The initial collision is of the two supposed cars, this happens from misdiving, and the
imcat. Then the impulse of the momentum of the car stopping gives the human
momentum, then the human hit soming, and the momentum from that accelerates the
organs, which are squshed against the body.

12. Name at least 5 safety features of a car.

The metal it is made out of

Air bags
Seat belts
Cushiound seats
Stong windows
