Assessment 2 – A project management plan

The assignment 2 for this course is based on the proposal (assignment 1) completed by the student.
This is 4000 words work, 40% worth of the total marks. A student needs to develop a project
management plan (project communication plan) for the project described in the assignment 1. The
assignment is to be done individually by students. Assignment details are as follows:

Assignment Purpose and Objective

The aim of the assignment is to develop the Student’s understanding of Project Management Life Cycle
through the evaluation of the commercial proposal. This assignment is based on concepts and principles
from the lectures, workshops, class notes, online exercises and reading references.

To meet the requirements of this assignment a student as a Project Manager will need to write a project
management plan and to address the following questions in relation to the selected project:

1. Provide a 1 page Executive Summary, aimed at senior management, on the background of your
project (assignment 1).
2. Describe the project communication strategy which captures details of all project communications
including the scope of works, budget, timeframe, the type of project control, reporting, project
milestone, project environment, potential risks, and project quality management system.
3. Describe briefly review process, at which point and by whom review will be conducted, are there
any third party involved (sub-consultancy or subcontractor)?
4. Discus project management information system (PMIS) (this could range from corporate ICT
systems to more specific project-related information systems, the security of access to these
systems). Describe how a confidential information will be managed.
5. Lessons learned (insure that a review of any lessons learned from prior similar projects is carried
out and that any relevant lessons learned).

ASSESSMENT 2
Presentation
A professional business standard of presentation is expected, generally using 12 point font size. The
appropriate use of graphics and succinct to the point commentary is encouraged.

Assignments submitted should be original, however students should keep copies as a backup.

Due Date
Start this assignment in semester week 6 and submit in week 10 (Due Date: 21.09.2018).
