Message of the Day:


 Rises on the Mississippi and tributary rivers continue due to recent heavy
rains.
 Isolated flash flooding possible overnight into Thursday AM, especially in
northwest and west central Illinois.
 Little to no change in forecast crests on Mississippi today.
 The Mississippi will remain in flood through most of May.
 Greatest uncertainty in future crests is from the Quad Cities downstream.
Important Forecast Changes:
• Flash Flood Watch now in effect from midnight tonight until
1 pm CDT Thursday. Lightning threat overnight for those
monitoring flood barriers.

Flash Flood Watch Overnight-Thursday AM

 Rain amounts between 0.25” – 0.50” possible tonight,


isolated 1+ inch amounts, with heaviest rain falling
across northwest and west central Illinois.
 Little forecast changes on river levels are expected,
unless heavier rains are more widespread than
currently forecast

Observed 24-Hour Rainfall (Ending ~ 9AM 5/1/2019)

 Widespread rain amounts over 1.0” fell along and south of a


line from Washington, IA to the Quad Cities
 Rainfall totals quickly tapered to under 0.25” north of that
line.

OBSERVED 3-day Rainfall (Ending ~ 9AM 5/1/2019)

 Widespread rain amounts over 2.0” have fallen in the past 3


days over much of southeast Iowa, northwest Illinois, and
northeast Missouri. Some amounts over 4.0” were observed.
 Rises on the Mississippi, tributary rivers, creeks, and streams
were seen as a result.
