Unlocking Doc's Architects will first require you to repair Gus's Smithy and the Mines in order to
collect the materials needed for his odd house. Upon doing so, you will become his apprentice and
you will be able to employ his services as an inventor extraordinaire. At first, you will only be able to
purchase one house upgrade from him, but after restoring the lighthouse, more options will become
available to you.
Doc also offers special decorations only through purchasing the DLC. He is also able to customize
the interior of your farmhouse after witnessing his cutscene in the Mountains.

CROP MUTATION ALMANAC
When planted under certain conditions, crops have the potential to mutate into a completely different
crop, adding an extra aspect into raising crops. If you want to grow 'em all, you'll have to be creative
when planting and experiment with different types of terrain, weather conditions, seasons, and even
planting certain crops next to each other. Some crops will mutate very easily; you may wake up one
morning to find that they've mutated overnight - while others are a bit more tricky to master. This
almanac serves as your guide to discovering them all.
Terrain
There are four different types of terrain which you will need to familiarize yourself with if you want to
master crop mutations, as well as interpret this guide. For the purposes of this guide, we will refer to
the terrain types as "Grassy", "Patchy", "Swampy", and "Dry".
Patchy: A mix between grass and dirt found in the lower area of the mountains.
Great crops are high quality versions of crops that will grow when planted in the crop's preferred
season and terrain. Mutated crops also have a "great" version of themselves, which can be achieved
by acquiring and planting the respective mutated crop's seeds, although they can mutate on their
own as well. They do not require fertilizer, but they will have a higher chance of producing their
"great" version if fertilized at least once. Since any crop can be "great" and the method to get them
are all the same, they will not be included in the tables below.
When a “multi-harvest” crop such as corn mutates into something like fodder corn, the crop will now
regrow as the mutated crop every time. In other words, once a crop mutates, it remains as its
mutated version. This is useful since it helps with acquiring enough crops to sell to unlock the
mutated crop's seeds.
Be careful when planting crops expected to mutate, since they must finish their growth cycle within
the current season in order to mutate. However, any regrowing crops that have mutated such as
fodder corn will remain in their mutated form when the season crosses over, provided they do not
wither. Naturally, crops planted out of the season they mutate in will not mutate.

While mining, your goal is not only to break apart the ore lodes you find with your Hammer, but also
till the ground with your Hoe to find ladders leading deeper within the Mines, and to rarer ores. This
can be frustrating, especially in the beginning while you still have the original Hoe and can only till
one square at a time. Luckily there is a trick to finding the ladder - the ladder will always be found
around the edge of each floor, within approximately three squares from the wall. It will never be
found in the middle of the floor, so work on tilling around the edges of each floor and you'll find the
ladder eventually.
Additionally, as you delve deep within the Mines, you will unlock checkpoints every time you reach a
floor ending in a "1" or a "6" which can be used to return to that point at a later time. For example,
Floors "16" and 21" will be unlocked as checkpoints upon reaching them. You can use this to pace
yourself and save your progress as you make your way through. Try doing groups of 5 or 10 floors at
a time on rainy days, and pack plenty of Mushrooms and Bread!
Hammer Requirements
As you hit certain levels in the Mine, you will be required to upgrade your Hammer to break apart
ores from that point on. The levels and Hammer requirements are detailed in the chart below.
Hammer upgrades can be made at Gus's Smithy.
Ore Locations
Every ore has a specific set of floors where they can be found in the Mines, so use the chart below
to select which levels you need to go to in order to find the ores you need.

RESTORE THE LIGHTHOUSE
Acquired automatically on Day 2. Simply place it at the Lighthouse, and the day will end.
Second Stone Tablet
Required Materials:
Acquire an Axe - this will require a little bit of running back and forth between Jeanne and Sally
in town. You'll have to first bring Sally a Bamboo Shoot, then a Cabbage to prove you are a
farmer. When you bring the Cabbage, Sally's mother, Naomi, will give you an Axe to thank you
for your troubles.
Repair Sam's Store - Sam will give you the second Stone Tablet.
Repair Carol's Flowers - Carol, Dean, and Harvest Sprite Blossom will arrive the next day.
With Blossom and Rowan's help, give power to the Tablet at the Lighthouse. The day will end.
Required Materials:
Go to the mountains where a cutscene with Nova will trigger and you will acquire
the Fragmented Stone Tablet.
Try placing the Fragment at the Lighthouse for a required cutscene.
Repair the Mountain Bridge leading to the Smithy and Mines
Repair Gus's Smithy. Melanie will appear the next day and give you a Hammer.
Repair the Mines.
Mine Iron Ore for Gus so that he will set up shop in the Smithy. Harvest Sprite Flint is also
awakened.
Repair Cyril's House. The next day, you will acquire the Fishing Rod from him.
Repair Doc's Architects. Visit the mountain the next day; a cutscene will trigger where he will
take the Fragmented Tablet from you for observation (you must have tried putting the Fragment
at the Lighthouse first for this to occur).
While Fragmented Tablet is in Doc's possession, fish in the Mountains for the
other Fragmented Stone Tablet piece. It should be the first thing you catch, and you will also
awaken Harvest Sprite Dewy.
Have Doc repair the broken Tablet (needed: Iron Ore x3, Glass Material x5)
With the help of Rowan, Blossom, and Dewy, place the Third Stone Tablet at the Lighthouse.
The day will end.
Fourth Stone Tablet
Required Materials:
Repair Gareth and Tabitha's House - Gareth and Tabitha will come to the island the next day.
Repair Sofia's Livestock - Sofia, Gabriel, and Michael will come to the island the next day.
Repair Bastian's Restaurant - Bastian and Elise will move to the island the next day and open
the Restaurant.
With Gareth and Tabitha on the island, a cutscene taking place at the Harvest Goddess Spring
will occur after you wake up one morning.
After the cutscene at the H.G. Spring, head to town for another cutscene where the villagers are
discussing the mythical Blue Bird.
Visit the Beach at night in sunny weather for a cutscene to trigger. You will know the day is right
if Blossom wakes you up in the morning to let you know it is clear. The only thing revealed in the
cutscene is a red apple, so go to bed.
The next day, go talk to Gabriel. He will give you the recipe for Delicious Animal Feed to lure
the Blue Bird out. You can prepare the Feed at any Windmill.
Prepare the Delicious Animal Feed. Then talk to Gabriel. On the next sunny day, bring the feed
back to the Beach at night. The Blue Bird will transform into Harvest Sprite Woody who will
request you to bring Strawberry Jam to the Harvest Goddess Spring.
Acquire the Strawberry Jam recipe from Bastian's Restaurant.
Prepare Strawberry Jam, the bring it to the Harvest Goddess Spring. The Harvest Goddess will
appear and give you the Fourth Stone Tablet.
Place the Fourth Stone Tablet at the Lighthouse, and a cutscene will occur in which you meet
the Harvest God. You will not be sent to bed, unlike the other Tablets.
Fifth Stone Tablet
Required Materials:
After meeting the Harvest God, he will give you the Fifth Stone Tablet. Unfortunately, after
placing the Tablet, a bolt of lightning will destroy it, so you'll have to set about making a new one.
Repair the Barn and acquire a Sheep from Sofia's Livestock. Harvest Sprite Woody will awaken
after repairing the Barn.
Upgrade your Axe and Hammer to Expert; this is necessary for acquiring Hardwood Lumber and
Mining ores starting at Level 31 in the Mines.
Bring Doc the required materials to make a new Tablet. He will as for Jade x2, Stone x10, and a
different flower depending on what season it is. Doc will take the materials and ask you to deliver
the flower to Carol.
Bring Doc's flower to Carol for another scene. Then return to Doc's Architects with Carol's
answer. Doc will give you the completed Tablet.
Bring the Fifth Stone Tablet to the H.G. Spring for discussion. The group will determine that the
help of Underworld King, Gorgan, is needed.
Repair the Bridge leading to the Underworld by the Lighthouse Outlook. The required Mithril can
be mined starting at Lv. 31 in the Mines.
Visit Gorgan, the Underworld King. Gorgan will be completely unhelpful, so you'll need to explore
other options. A meeting at the H.G. Spring will occur. It is determined that the final Harvest
Sprite will need to be awakened to help give power to the Tablet.
Great Wool, Dahlia, and Yellow Perch are needed to awaken the Harvest Sprite Oliver. Bring
these items to the H.G. Spring for a cutscene to trigger. After this, head to the Lighthouse to
place the final Stone Tablet. After another cutscene triggers, the Lighthouse will be restored!
If you have any questions on how to restore the Lighthouse, feel free to follow the rest of the guide
for more in-depth coverage, or visit us in the Light of Hope forum where you can ask anything!
What's there to do after restoring the Lighthouse? Lots of stuff! There's new animals to purchase
from Sofia's Livestock, new crops to grow, and you can also work on getting married and completing
your Encyclopedias! Stay tuned as this guide will cover just how to accomplish all of it :)
MARRIAGE & CHILDREN
Once you start to get to know some of the eligible bachelor/bachelorettes around town, you may
want to start thinking about marriage. The good news is that you will be able to get married to your
sweetheart after successful restoration of the Lighthouse. After that, you will just have to fulfill the
requirements outlined below:
To marry your chosen sweetheart, you must have seen all their Note Events and have at least four
Notes with them. See the individual bachelor/bachelorette character pages for details on triggering
their Note Events.
A Giant House
You must have the Giant House in order to have room to start a family. The Giant House upgrade is
purchased through Doc's Architects after you have updated to a Large House. It costs 180,000 G
and requires the following materials: Hardwood Lumber x50, Great Cotton Candy Wool x5,
Adamantite x3. Cotton Sheep should be available after restoring the Lighthouse which will provide
Cotton Candy Wool. It is not required to upgrade the Barn, but if you need space you will either need
to sell an animal or upgrade the Barn to make room for the Cotton Sheep.
A Blue Feather
Longtime farmers will know that you must have a Blue Feather in order to propose. Blue birds are a
rarity in the Harvest Moon world, but luckily, after you upgrade your house to a Giant House, you
may just be able to get a Blue Feather. After the upgrade to Giant House, you will have a dream in
which you envision a blue bird. The next morning, Rowan will wake you up and instruct you to visit
the Beach after 6 PM on a sunny night. This will trigger an event in which you obtain the Blue
Feather.
After you have your Blue Feather, propose to your sweetheart. The next step is to plan the wedding.
Naturally, you will need the proper attire, which Melanie can help with. Visit Melanie at Gus's Smithy
to receive a request from her for dress and tuxedo materials. You will need to collect the following:
Orichalcum Ore x3
Great Cotton Candy Wool x2
Great Silky Fur x2
Bring these materials to Melanie, and she will take about a week to complete the outfits. After a
week has passed, talk to her again to collect the wedding outfits. After that, a date for the wedding
will be set in one week. This won't be up to choice, so plan accordingly in case your wedding will fall
on an important day. If you need to, wait before collecting the outfits from Melanie so the wedding
won't clash with anything else.
Wedding Day
The wedding will take up the whole day, so everything on the farm will be left unattended, so keep
that in mind. Otherwise have fun and enjoy the start of your new family!
Children
Did you think that was all? No no... after marriage comes children. One month after your marriage,
you will have a child. You will need to purchase a Crib from Doc's Architects, however. Can't have
the child sleeping on the floor! At some point before the child is born, you will be asked what gender
you would prefer for your child, and your answer will determine what gender your child is.
