DAY 1
1. a.Listening to nursery rhymes. ( through playing CDs or recorders )
b. Teacher will repeat the rhymes.
2. Review on the previous lesson: Likes and Dislikes (Talking About Onself)
3. Present pictures of clean hands and dirty hands.

Ask: Which hand do you like to shake hand? Why?
Why you don’t want to shake hand with hand B? ( It is disgusting! )
What do you need to do to have clean hands? ( Wash it with soap and water. )

Say: Class , remember that it is important to wash our hands to keep us safe from any illnesses. It makes us healthy and gain
many
friends as well. So if you want to gain many friends, keep your hands clean!

( Ask the pupils to shake hands with their seatmates )

1. Present the iWash Song to the pupils.


Let the pupils listen first to the teacher then sing together with the pupils.

B. Establishing a purpose for the End: Washing hand is cool, at home and in your school
lesson. I wash my hands, ( Hysan is going to keep me clean...)

Ask: How do you feel seeing someone eating food without washing his/her hands? ( Feeling disgusted! )
When should you wash your hands? ( before eating and after using the toilet )
What should you use in washing your hands? ( soap )
Why is it important to use soap? ( To keep hands clean thoroughly.)

2. Go back to the song again. Give emphasis on this line:

Ask: What do you notice to the underlined words? ( Say the words several times and give emphasis on the final sound of the word.)
What do you notice with the final sound of the words? ( They have the same sound )

Say: The word cool and school have the same ending sound.
Today, you are going to identify words with the same ending sound.
Ask: Why is it important to be cool in school?

1. Present the following pictures to the class. Let the pupils identify the picture.

Ask: What is this? ( This is cat.) Ask: What is this? ( This is a mat.)
( Write the word cat beside the picture.) ( Write the word mat beside the picture.)

2. Say the words cat and mat several times. Give emphasis on the ending sound of the words.
Ask: What do you notice to the ending sound of the words cat and mat? ( They have the same ending sound)
Say: Class, the words that have the same ending sound are called rhyming words.
( Let the pupils say “ Rhyming Words” several times.)

3. Give more example of rhyming words through pictures. ( Say the name of the pictures.)

( Teacher will say the name of the picture several times. Pupils will listen to the ending sound of the words. Let the pupils
identify the

Ask: What do you call the words with the same ending sound? ( rhyming words)

DAY 2

1. .Let the pupils sing the iWash Song.


(Remind pupils of the importance of washing hands.)

Ask : When should you wash your hands? ( Before eating and after using the toilet. )
Why is it important to wash our hands? ( To keep us healthy and away from any illnesses. )

What should you use in washing to keep your hands clean? ( soap )

2. Review: .
Ask: What was our lesson yesterday? ( rhyming words )
( If the pupils are not able to remember the word, give example of rhyming words, then ask again to remind
them.)
Say: Yesterday, you have learned about rhyming words, ( Write it on the board - rhyming words.)

Ask: Who can give examples of rhyming words?

3. Activity 1. ( Listening Activity )

1. The teacher will say pair of words. The pupils will identify if the words are rhyming words or not.

Directions: Do the Hi-Five if the pair of words are rhyming words.


Shake your hands if the pair of words are not rhyming words.

1. rain – train
2. ran – fan
3. jump – sit
4. fat – rat
5. can – bed

4. Activity 2 : ( Group Activity )


The class will be divided into four groups.
Give each group a set of pictures with the same ending sound and
let them identify and match pictures with the same ending sound.

( Prepare the following pictures of: fan, can, train, rain, spoon, moon, book, hook )

Each group will paste the pictures on manila paper and present it to the class.

5. Activity 3: Teacher will wrap-up the lesson based on the group activity. Say again the names of the pictures together with the
pupils.
Ask: Class, what do you call those words with the same ending sound? ( rhyming words )

Give each pupil a picture. ( The picture should have name.)


Each pupil will look for the other pictures with the same ending sound.
E. You do it
The pupils who have the pictures with the same ending sound will form a group.
The group will present it to the class. They will say the name of the pictures.
( The teacher will ask, what is the ending sound of the words.)
