WORK METHOD STATEMENT FOR DATA CENTRE REMEDIAL WORKS.

INTRODUCTION
This document details the various work methods for the various Data centre upgrade remedial works.

DOCUMENT DISTRIBUTION.

RNE will maintain a Distribution List for controlled copies of this document reflecting the
persons/place to whom/where it was issued and the date of issue. Additional, uncontrolled copies will
be made available at the discretion of RNE.

DETAILED SCOPE OF WORKS.

The scope of works for this project shall include, but not limited to:

ELECTRICAL:
The contractor is required to provide the following service relevant to the commissioning of the on-
going main UPS project.

 Provide insulating rubber mat in front of all the electrical panels in the UPS machine room.

CIVIL WORKS:
 Provide chequered mild steel plate to cover all the cable trenches existing inside the main
UPS room.
 Provide U-channel and angle iron to support item a above
 Peel-off old tiles and paint the UPS room floor with RAL paint to minimise dusts
 Provide panic mechanism for the main UPS and battery room doors
 Remove existing pavement.
 Carry out complete partitioning of the battery room.
 Excavate 20m cable trench
 Break existing slab for cable entry
 Re-route 10 nos 4cx185mm2 and 2 nos.1cx120mm2 armoured cable into the main UPS
room
 Plaster the covered AC holes outside
 Provide cable route markers
 Carry out equipment labelling.
 Supply all machinery, tools and test equipment necessary to carry out the work/testing.

This work method details how the above stated work will be carried out in an environmental friendly
and safe manner, with good engineering practices.

EXECUTION OF WORKS.

Mobilization.

All equipment/tools will be mobilized to site from ROESON NIG. ENT.contact office, here in Port
Harcourt, Rivers state.This equipment/tools shall undergo pre-mob inspection by SPDC prior to
mobilization to site.

WORK DESCRIPTION/ PROCEDURE.

Site Visit:
This is to check/verify the site layout as per the required services to be carried out. This includes
dimensional extrapolations/calculations, material specifications etc from the client (SPDC)

HSE:
Prior to commencement of site activities, RNE shall:

 Attend project kick-off meeting

 Conduct site pre-mob inspection. The Pre-mob report recommendation(s) shall be adequately
addressed.
 Compile JHA spread of site tasks.
 Attend HEMP challenge for the project.
 Obtain validly signed PTW
 Tool box /PEP talk shall precede site activities, which shall capture the hazards inherent in the
day’s task
 Correct tools/PPEs shall be deployed for all site tasks.

ELECTRICAL:
INSULATION RUBBER MATTING:
RNE shall supply and install Insulated rubber matting used to create a safe test area when performing
electrical safety testing, or working with live circuits across all the electrical panels in the UPS main
room.

CIVIL:
MAIN UPS ROOM.
RNE shall supply and install 20mm2 5x10 chequered mild steel plate to cover all the cable trenches in
the main UPS room. This shall be adequately dimensioned, fabricated and painted in our fabrication
workshop before transported and installed on site. There shall not be any form of site fabrication. Also
U-channels and angle iron shall serve as additional supports for the steel plate covers.
After the covering the trenches, the existing tiled-flooring shall be scraped-off and painted with RAL
paints to reduce the accumulation of dusts.

The existing cable trench shall be dug (about 20m) and thereafter all the existing 10 nos 4cx185mm2
and 2 nos.1cx120mm2-armoured cables shall be re-routed into the main UPS room. The means of
digging shall be manual, which involves the use of insulated shovel and competent workers. Adequate
care shall be taken not to cause any form of mechanical/physical damage to the cables. Also the cables
shall be meggered before commencement of re-routing. The cable ends will then be insulated to avoid
ingress of solvents.
On completion of the re-routing activities, standard cable slabs shall be provided to protect the cables,
after which cable route markers shall be installed to indicate the cable geometry.
Panic door mechanism shall be provided for the main UPS room to improve on the asset integrity and
for safety reasons. This exit device will also allow O&M personnel to exit the premises just as easily as
possible in case of emergency.

All the de-commissioned AC holes shall be plastered behind the main UPS room, after which the
complete main UPS room shall be repainted. On completion of this task, all the equipment in the main
UPS room shall be tagged.

BATTERING ROOM:
The battery room shall be completely partitioned to assure adequate cooling for the new installed
battery banks. The partitioning shall be manual, which shall involve the deployment of our competent
carpenter whom shall use wooden ply boards to partition the entire opening in the room
The existing pavements in the battering room shall be remove manual by the use of concrete hammer.
This shall safely be done to avoid trips and falls of O&M personnel’s on the facility. On completion of
the removal activity, complete re-painting of the battery room shall be carried out.
Thereafter panic door mechanism shall be provided for the main UPS room to improve on the asset
integrity and for safety reasons. This exit device will also allow O&M personnel to exit the premises
just as easily as possible in case of emergency.

CLOSE-OUT DOCUMENTATION.

ROESON NIG. ENT shall produce copies of close-out documentation to SPDC for proper project
management and demobilization from site.
