Team Background/Team Roles

● Benjamin:
○ Bio: A Junior at James Madison University majoring in Computer Science with a
minor in Mathematics.
○ Team Role - Software Developer:
■ Write the software behind the fueled app.
● Implement features as discussed by the group.
● Create prototypes and adjust as necessary.
● Kelly:
○ Bio: A Sophomore at James Madison University majoring in Communication
Studies with a concentration in Public Relations and minoring in Human
Resources.
○ Team Role - Implementer
■ Takes actions for the team to make sure plans get followed through.
■ Contacts outside sources for further information for the group.
■ Reports and collects data.
■ Be additional team support when needed.
■ All responsibilities subject to change and adjustment upon review of the
team.

○ Bio: A sophomore Communications major (BS) with a concentration in PR at
James University with a minor in Spanish. Involved on campus as a member of
Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority; executive board position as head of committees.
○ Team Role - Communicator:
■ Flexible between roles and helps with internal and external flexible
communication
■ Helps to manage communication practices via email, text, etc.
● Amanda:
○ Bio: A senior pursuing a Communications degree (B.S) at James Madison
University. A mentor with the Valley Scholars Mentorship Program for incoming
first-gen students.
○ Team Role - Controller:
■ Makes sure things are getting done on time, being more clear cut without
any ambiguity.
■ Overseeing everyone’s work is getting done in a timely fashion.
■ Acting as a lead voice for the group and generating initiation with group
members and the community partner.

lacrosse team.
○ Team Role - Supporter/Shaper:
■ Flexible between roles and helps with completion the of tasks in any role.
■ Keeps unity and balance between members and task distribution.
■ Facilitate in stimulating group members by questioning norms and finding
the best approaches for solving problems.
■ Work systematically and efficiently to keep the team organized.

History of Fueled
Fueled App Performance Improvement Proposal

Fueled started as an idea created by four students in the spring of 2015 as a part of Venture
Creation course at James Madison University. These students created a business plan for a
locally sourced food truck that would be entirely operated by JMU students with the mission to
fuel and opportunity for personal growth, university collaboration, and community engagement.
Through the work and support of interdisciplinary faculty, JMU Dining Services, mentor and
guests from all departments on campus, JMU Administration and students Fueled was launch on
campus the Fall of 2016. After being in operation for a semester we launched The JMU Fueled
Project, an interdisciplinary course dedicated to bringing together students from all over campus
to develop innovations that could be implemented at Fueled. Team project center around these
main topics: industrial and environmental design, nutrition and health promotion, mind-body
awareness, graphic design and marketing, campus and K-12 educations, and community
engagement.

Data Collection:

Survey:
An online survey was conducted with some forced response and open response questions. The
four questions used included:

1. How many times on average do you go to Fueled a month?

2. Would you use an "order ahead option" at Fueled on your phone if it was
available?
3. How satisfied were you with your last experience at Fueled?
4. What is your favorite thing to order?

This scale from 1-5 meaning 1 being poor and 5 being excellent

The majority concluded that can be determined from this data alone is that the truck has a
steady flow with frequent customers and customers that come only a few times a week. If there
was an order ahead option the majority of people would use it. However, there is a significant
amount of people who experienced a poor time visiting the truck. These factors could be
anything from the food to customer service.

Group Observations:

Summary: As a group, we have had to collectively readjust the direction of our app several
times. Although we had a few setbacks in the beginning,we were able to pivot our thought
processes and explore new avenues for our app. Our group members come from various
academic backgrounds such as communications, business and computer science. The variance
amongst our group members has been an asset this semester, making our ideas stable and
universal.
