THE GOOD
INTRODUCTION
Well as you know, social media has effected our lives. It can allow friends and
family to stay in touch and send photos to each other, no matter the distance they
are apart. It can also, on the other hand, allow people to bully others without ever
meeting them. And so, my team and I proudly present “The Effects of Social
Media”. Starting with the positive effects:
THE POSITIVE SIDE
Online social media have gained astounding worldwide growth and
popularity which has led to attracting attention from variety of
researchers globally. Although with time all generations have come to
embrace the changes social network has brought about, teenagers
and young adults are the most fanatic users of these sites. According to
various research studies in the field of online social networks, it has
been revealed that these sites are impacting the lives of the youth
greatly. We shall be looking at three reasons of the good side.
1. Social networks help the businesses in a variety of ways. Traditional
marketing mediums such as the radio, TV commercials and print
ads are completely obsolete now and demand for thousands of
dollars. However, with social media the businesses can connect with
their targeted customers for free, the only cost is energy and time.
Through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or any other social site you can
lower your marketing cost to a significant level.
2. The increasing popularity of social sites like Twitter, Facebook and
LinkedIn, social networks has gained attention as the most viable
communication choice for the bloggers, article writers and content
creators. These social networking sites have opened the opportunity
for all the writers and bloggers to connect with their tech savvy
clients to share their expertise and articles.
3. Social networks have removed all the communication and interaction
barriers, and now one can communicate his/her perception and
thoughts over a variety of topics. Students and experts are able to
share and communicate with like-minded people and can ask for the
input and opinion on a particular topic. Another positive impact of
social networking sites is to unite people on a huge platform for the
achievement of some specific objective. This is very important to
bring the positive change in society.

Negative Aspects of Social Networking
Well, as you know that about 1.73 billion people use social
networking sites that means approximately 1 in 4 people use
these sites. This is a lot of people, in contrast, to people who
now write letters. People at the time of our parents used to
write and knew real language!
Q)What do most people like the smell of?
ANS) Money! It is said by many people that it makes us less self-aware and self-controlled.
Q)What do social food pics have to say about themselves?
ANS)Eat me… eat me! Yes some reports say that food pics can alter your appetite.
Actually, it can make you overeat, rather than under eat as well as hunger can take you
over.
Q)What does the brain thinks of these sites?
Let’s like the pic that has more
likes than this pic.

This means that now we don’t think independently. It is proven by HP Labs

Q)Self-esteem, anyone cares?
ANS)Some people care, and they were the two German universities who
proved that people, likely 1 in 3, feel depressed, weak or sad because of
comparing between their high friends.
Q)Butcher’s online. Comparing with chatting, anyone want to know the
results?
ANS)Well, Susan Greenfield wants to know. She deduced the facts that in our
intricate posterity, we may find people who repulse to a real-life talk.
Q)Bully me and bully from here to there, but to whom?
ANS)The answer is to anyone! It is a true fact, not opinion, that anyone at
any time can be cyber-bullied and at any time. Cyber bullying has become a
very common social problem. Reports show that a person can lose his
self-esteem, become anxious, depressed, angry or sad and may get a trauma.
Q)Addictive or not interesting, is social networking?
ANS)… and the answer to this question is ADDICTIVE! Studies show
that 63% American people log on to Facebook every day and 40% of
them log in every day. The rate is rapidly increasing and for this reason
researchers have made a scale for Facebook obsession;
• The Berge Facebook Addiction Scale
Q)Relaxation or restless?
ANS)Restless! Two in three people proved that social networking
makes a person restless.
Q)Fear the drug and alcohol users.
• Social-networking teenagers have been heard to 70% increase their
alcoholic and drug disturbed factors. They are more slang and have an
interest for alcohol.
Q)Task of Multitudes!
ANS)People are bound to multi-tasking. They have proved to increase in
multi-tasking i.e. to lose concentration and focus on one job.
Therefore, we hereby conclude the heresy of social networking. Social
networks should reduce their features and allow us to enjoy the
real-dimensional and analytical/practical world rather than a virtual, busy
one!

CONCLUSION

Like all things, social media has negative and positive sides. Whether social media is a good thing , that
should be continued; a bad thing, that should be banned forever: is up for debate. As a wise man once
said: “All things have a good purpose; all pose a great danger. It is up to the man (using it) which side to
take.”
