Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Describe how you could address Universal Design for Learning
principles to extend and support the learning experiences for all students.
Engagement: Students will have the opportunity to work individually to complete this lesson plan. They will
be taking notes on it individually and then they will work together on reviewing this information.

Representation: Each component of the video relates to aspects of the lifestyles these students may be
living. It is important they learn how to properly save and invest their income. Students who create a high-
quality lifestyle lesson plan will be rewarded with candy or free time at the end of class.

Action and Expression: Students will talk about what they learned during this lesson with peers.

Lesson idea implementation: Students will create an IMovie presentation going over what type of lifestyle
they would live on a stable budget. Students will earn a minimum of 20,000 a year and have to come up with
a budget for an apartment, food, and transportation all for one month on living. I want students to
understand the importance of credit and of how to also properly invest extra money that isn’t included in
the budget.

Importance of technology: If students did not have access to the use of technology like iMovie, they would
not be able to create a live and interactive presentation. The use of iMovie allows students to create a
moving stream of pictures and add audio. This project could not be completed without the use of
multimedia. Students should gain knowledge of the economic tips I am providing for them in this lesson plan.

Inspiration (optional):
The YouTube video was my inspiration for creating this lesson plan idea. I really enjoy watching videos such
as those and think it’s important we do more as educators to properly prepare our students for the real
world.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: I will consult with administrators before assigning a project that
involves student creating online projects like videos. I think it is a good practice to always ask for parental
permission so that parents know what their child will be working on in class. I will also remind students of
internet safety and appropriate use. I will give them a list of approved resources where they find free music
and pictures that fall under the copyright laws.

Reflective Practice: I think this assignment will help students reflect on an important lifestyle aspects. I hope
my students will take the time to understand the impact saving money can do for them when they get older.
