SECTION 03500
A. PARTICULAR SPECIFICATION
1.2 Concrete
- 15.7 mm o/d high tensile low relaxation strand (super strand to BS5896/3)
- Characteristic breaking load to be 265 kN.
2
- Area of strand to be 150mm .
- 12.9 mm o/d high tensile low relaxation strand (super strand to
BS5896/3)
- Characteristic breaking load to be 186 kN.
2
- Area of strand to be 100 mm .
2
- Modulus of elasticity to be 190-200 kN/mm .
- Relaxation class2; 1000hr value at 70% load to
be 2.5%.
- Coefficient of frication to be 0.20
- Wobble factor, k, to be 0.0017/m
- Galvanized Ducting
- Galvanized steel ducting shall be corrugated and supplied with suitable
couplings, grout saddles and vent tubes.
- Anchorages: to comply with the minimum requirements of BS 4447.
Anchors to be compatible with the tendon used and to be fitted with
compatible wedges, caps and pocket formers. Maximum wedge draw-in to
be 6mm.
- All anchors to be located such that the tendons are at right angles to the
edges of the concrete slab.
- All anchorages are cast anchorages and anchorage-casting tubes have fixing
holes in the tube unit flange in order to:
- Fix the tube unit to the formwork.
- Locate the jack-bearing ring during stressing.
- Fix the grout cap.
- All anchorages have a grout entry/exit hole in the flange of the casting
- Anchor cones, blocks and plates shall be positioned and maintained during
concreting so that the centerline of the ducts passes axially through the
anchorage assembly.
- All bearing surface of the anchorage shall be clean prior to concreting and
tensioning.
- The anchoring procedure shall be strictly in accordance with the
Manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations.
- Grout: The grout shall comprise OPC to BS 12 supplied below 20°C.
- Water between 5°C & 15°C.
1.6 Extensions
- Record the initial length of each strand protruding from the face of the
anchorage from a datum.
- Stress tendon up to 30% of the jacking force to take up any slack in the
tendon and record the strand length.
- Stress the tendon up to 100% of the jacking force and record the final
extended length from the datum
- Plot a graph of extension against load and determine the total extension.
- Notify the engineer of any discrepant between actual and predicted
extensions
after the engineer has approved the extensions strands can be cropped and
ducts could be grouted
- Submit results to the engineer for approval
1.7 Grouting
1.9 Holes
- Prior to post forming any holes through the slab the contractor must
agree on an acceptable method of working with the subcontractor.
- Drill fixings should generally be restricted to 20mm in
length.
- Storage facilities and the procedures for transporting material into or out of
store shall guard against the tendons being kinked or notched.
Anchor Components:
- The handing and storing procedure must maintain the anchor components in
a condition in which they can subsequently perform their functions
satisfactorily. Components shall be handled and stored so that mechanical
damage and corrosion are prevented.
General:
Concrete:
For concrete casting as far as post-tensioning works are concreted, due care
shall be given while concreting in order not to move or damage the cables by
site operatives, equipment (e.g. poker vibrators) or by dropping concrete
directly onto cables from a height from a skip or pump.
Proper vibration shall be carried out behind all anchors to avoid honeycombs
Unless otherwise specified, concrete shall not be stresses until it has reached the
age at which at least 2 test specimens taken from it attain the specified transfer
strength. The test specimens shall be cured in similar conditions to the concrete
to which they relate. The contractor shall cast sufficient specimens to
demonstrate that the required strength of the concrete at transfer has been
reached.
1.12 Notes
03500 - Post Tension Slab - 4 / 5
Construction of 32 Residential Villas with Services Blocks
at Plot No. TW-EU-E09 - Heart of Europe, The World
- The drawing should be read in conjunction with all other relevant drawings.
- Concrete is to be carefully placed and compacted to ensure that the tendon
ducts are not displaced and that good compaction is achieved especially in
the bursting zone, adjacent to the anchorages.
- For general arrangement and setting out refer to the architectural and a
structural drawings.
- All normal reinforcement details on the PT drawings shall be supplied and
fixed by the main contractor.
