World is international financial institution that provides loan to the countries

of world for capital project. World bank is component of world bank group. The
world bank was established in 4 Jully 1944 at Washington. The headquarter of
world bank is in Washington. (United states.)

Structure of world bank :-

1. The international bank for reconstruction and development.
2. The international development association
3. The international finance corporation.
4. The multilateral investment guarantee agency.
5. The international centre for settlement of investment disputes.

Objectives of world bank :-

1. To provide long capital to member countries for economic
reconstruction and development
2. To induce long run capital investment for assuring balance of payment
equilibrium and balanced development of international trade.
3. To provide gurantee for loans granted to small and large unit and other
projects of member countries.
4. To insure the implementation of development projects so as to bring
about smoot transference from war time peace of economy.

Functions of world bank :-

 1. World bank provides various technical services to member countries.
For this purpose the bank has established “ the Economic development
institute”.
2. Banks can grant loan to member country up to 20% of share in paid
capital.
3. The quantities of loan, Interest rate and terms and conditions are
determined by bank itself.
4. Generally banks grant loan for particular project dually submitted to
the bank by the member countries.
5. The debtor nation has repay either in reserve currencies or in the
currencies in which loan was sanctioned.
