• Remove an x from each side of the equation
• Remove a ✶ from each side of the equation
• Remove an equal-valued number cube from each side of the equation
• Add a zero pair (x and ✶) to one side of the equation
• Add an x to each side of the equation
• Add a ✶ to each side of the equation
• Remove a zero pair (x and ✶) from one side of the equation
• Add a zero pair of number cubes to one side of the equation
• Remove a zero pair of number cubes from one side of the equation

Important Things to Remember:


• Whatever you do to one side, you must do to the other side – be fair!
• Keeping an equation balanced is always required
• x and  ✶ are always opposites; their sum is zero
• When you add a zero pair to something, the value does not change
• ✶ is really -x in disguise
