CHANGING PASSWORDS ON IP CAMERAS
PRODUCT SELECTOR
Changing Passwords on IP Cameras
When choosing a password for an IP camera, choose one that is not easily guessed by others. We recommend complex passwords that contain
uppercase and lowercase characters, numbers, and special characters such as @, #, $ etc.

The newest versions of rmware will generate a popup message prompting you to change the password when logging into an IP camera with a
default password. If you are using the new rmware and you do see this popup message, Press OK, and skip to step #3 in the instructions
below.

To change the password on an IP camera:

1. Log into the camera using Internet Explorer or Firefox web browsers with the current administrator password. If prompted to install the
plugin (or to allow the plugin to run), follow the prompt to proceed with the password changing procedure.
2. After logging into the camera, go to the Con guration tab. In this tab, go to Basic Con guration then Security.
3. Choose the desired user and click on the Modify button. A Modify User window will appear.
4. Enter the new password. Below the new password eld an assessment bar will indicate the password strength. You should create a
strong password.
5. After entering the new password, con rm the password by re-entering it in the con rm eld.
6. Click OK.

default password. If you are using the new rmware and you do see this popup message, Press OK, and skip to step #3 in the instructions
below.

4. Choose the desired user and click the Edit icon, which looks like a Pencil.
5. Enter the current password in the Old Password eld, then place a checkmark in the Change Password checkbox.
6. Enter the New password. Next to the Password eld an assessment bar will indicate the password strength. You should create a strong
