Lesson Title:
What’s the verb?
Objectives:
Students will be able to locate where a verb is within a sentence a clearly comprehend what it
belongs to within the sentence.
Students will be able to use a verb within a sentence effectively.
State Standards:
Standard 4: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage
when writing or speaking.
4.1 Use singular and plural nouns with matching verbs in basic sentences.
4.8 Produce and expand complete simple and compound declarative, interrogative, imperative,
and exclamatory sentences.
Context:
Personally, this particular lesson in regards to verbs I feel is the most influential lesson that any
Kindergartener can have because it is the basis for almost every other lesson they will learn in
the future. Regardless of what an educator wants to teach to their students in a class, a
kindergartener needs a proper understanding of how to convey that in formation into sentences,
so I am teaching this lesson to prepare the students for all other future educators that come their
way. In the larger unit, students will discuss the components of a sentence and each aspect of a
sentence. Students will be bringing prior knowledge of how to pinpoint where a noun is within a
sentence. After the lesson on verbs, students will learn ways to incorporate adjectives and
navigate where an adjective can be placed within the sentences they form. In order to teach my
students for the next lesson topic, I will do the same as I am doing with the verbs lesson and
pinpoint where the adjectives are in sentences for them initially, then make them write their own
examples and such.
Data: How will students be grouped in this lesson? What hypothetical data will these groupings
be based on? How will data be collected in this lesson for future groupings and teaching?
Students will be grouped based off of understanding of the lesson, so basically data from the exit
ticket from the previous class, which was a quiz for students to complete in regards to sentences
with nouns in them. The catch with the groupings are that each group will have a variation of
students, so they will consist of individuals that understand the lesson, some that are
understanding but not fully, and others that are completely lost. The data for future groupings
will be collected by doing another exit ticket in regards to the lesson on verbs with the same
ideas in mind that these groups were grouped.

(Multimedia 2=https://youtu.be/ineCCpqpZrM.):
I felt that this piece of multimedia would be extremely beneficial to the whole lesson as a whole
and will be a more informal and fun approach to open the class up to the idea of verbs. This
supports the topic of student learning and the standards because it will be a way for them to
interpret the lesson at hand and allow them to see formulated sentences they can base their future
sentences off of. It is of high-quality because I watched the video on my own and gained interest
in it. This multimedia differentiates instruction for all learners because it applies to every
learning style and each student can grasp something from ikt.
