Why are we offering this training?
✓ Because we care about people and the environment in Africa.
✓ Environmental challenges can only be addressed through a shift in individual attitudes
and behaviour. To achieve this we need more effective communication skills and we
need to share our knowledge and skills.

capacity within the conservation movement in Africa.

Who will facilitate the training?

✓ Dr Judy Mann
Dr Judy Mann has worked for the South African Association for Marine
Biological Research (SAAMBR) in Durban since 1992 in various capacities
including: research scientist, Director of Education, uShaka Sea World
Director and Chief Executive Officer. She is now the Conservation Strategist
of the Association. Conservation communication is her passion. She has
designed and run conservation communication training courses for groups
in South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and in Europe. She has served on numerous
national and international boards and committees. She currently serves on the Executive
Committee of the Pan African Association of Zoos and Aquaria (PAAZA) and is the President
Elect of the International Zoo Educators Board. She was the first recipient of the South African
Marine and Coastal Educator of the Year award. She has a PhD from University of Queensland
in Australia, with a focus on the influence of cultural diversity on environmental learning.

✓ David Musingo
David Musingo is the Manager of Education and Information Department at
Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), since 2013. He joined UWEC in
2006 as an Education Officer and since then he has been at the forefront of
promoting Conservation Education in Uganda. He was given an award as the
best Zoo Educator in Africa by Pan African Association of Zoos and Aquaria
(PAAZA) in 2014. He has been part of the committed team at UWEC that
has seen the centre scoop various awards such as the best and coordinating Zoo in East, Central
and West Africa by PAAZA, recognized by the government of Uganda as a model and lead
Conservation Education institution in the country. David holds an MSc in Ecology (Wetlands)
and BSc in Ethnobotany from the Makerere University, Kampala.
