LESSON PLAN Subject: Math

Trainee: Jawaher Hussain Topic or Theme: hands on: decimal

MST: Marnus

Class: 5/F Date & Duration: 24 – 3 – 2019

Trainee Personal Goals

I am working on:

To make students know what Decimal number means and to be able to distinguish when they see it
with another equation such as ratio or fractions and recognize what it is requires.

Lesson Focus

what the decimal means and how it looks like(.) by solve different question on it.

how we can convert the numbers from a fraction to a decimal by using a good way to can do it.

Decimal numbers are used to represent numbers that are smaller than the unit 1.Decimals are
written to the right of the units place separated by a period. (The units: Tenths, Hundredths and
Thousandths).

Lesson Outcomes

Students will be able to:

Solve different equations and how to convert the fraction to decimal numbers by using an object to
support them.

Links to Prior Learning

Students know the fraction how it looks like and how to solve the different questions about it.

21st Century Skills

The teacher will use a smart board to show the students a song then a video describes a lesson.

Use the power point to demonstrate and explain on it also use a big poster to show the basic things.
Some of the groups will use a small board to write the answer and using the decimal puzzle to solve the
problem.

Students use a sand box to write their own answer about the question that given to them.

Students use the cups to put the small cards (the answer) on the correct place on the cup. Also using
a wheel to challenge himself to answer the question.

examples.

Differentiation activities (Support):

Make different activities-based students' levels

Low level: give the students different cup that already written on the cup from outside if it is fraction
or decimal, so on the table, there is a mix small cards contain fraction and decimal questions so each
student on the group has to choose one card to sort it and put it in a right cup. So that feel them
happy to work with things.

Middle level: give the students a different decimal puzzle so they have to match the puzzle together
to get the correct shape then paste it on the poster, after that try to solve the questions on the small
board then show the teacher the answer to check.

High level: give each student a paper and put the wheel on the middle on the table so each student
has to move the wheel until it stops, they require to answer the question on the paper, for example,
convert this fraction to the decimal number and choose if its ten, hundred or thousand.

Differentiation activities (Stretch)

1.give each students a card contains one question, so each student has to answer by draw the answer
on the sand box

2.solve the card alone on the sand box.
