2.3.Desktop
If you are just getting started with windows , learning how to navigate the interface is the right place
to start .
Desktop includes:-desktop background(wallpaper)
-taskbar(at the bottom of the screen)
The taskbar is where you can find shortcuts to some of the applications on your computer , as well as
the start button . Also that is the place you will find File Explorer , which allows you to view and open
files and folders.
The Desktop is the main workspace of a computer .To open a program , file , or folder , just double
click the icon . (for instructions about the mouse and other peripherals see the table of contents).
For opening a file, you have to double-click it and it will appear in a new window . Different windows
can be moved by clicking and dragging the top of the window . If there are more than one window
opened at the same time, you can quickly switch between them by clicking the icon for that window on
the taskbar .
The mouse has three main components:-2 buttons , on the left and on the right which you can
click(these help opening programs)
-a small wheel in the middle of these two buttons which
allows scrolling up and down pages
Tips:-the index finger can be used to click on the left button and the middle one to click the right
button
-a wireless mouse may have a compartment to insert a battery and it may have an on and off
button . It also must have an USB connector.
-to work properly, place the mouse on a smooth surface(e.g mouse pad)
The keyboard
A keyboard is for putting information including letters, words and numbers into your computer. You
press the individual buttons on the keyboard when you type.
The number keys across the top of the keyboard are also found on the right of the keyboard.
