PRESS RELEASE

Hyderabad – Founder secretary and trustee Mohsin-e-Insaniyat Foundation, Joint secretary

Kul-Hind Jamiyyat Ul Mashaikh, Former member of State Hajj Committee – Janab Abul
Fateh Syed Bandagi Badshah Quadri addressing the print, visual and social media today:

The world is watching a rapidly escalating Genocide happening once again. Grim reminder
of Darfur and Rwanda, which shook the world not long ago. The Rohingya’s are often
described as the world’s most persecuted minority by United Nations Organization. Ethnic
Muslims who have lived for centuries in Myanmar (Burma). Currently there are over 1.1
Million Rohingya Muslims who live in this SE Asian country, which has itself seen
persecution under a strict Military rule for decades.

In recent months over 160,000 Rohingya’s have fled into neighboring countries with
majority moving to Bangladesh. In recent weeks more than 10,000 Rohingya’s have been
killed, children beheaded, women & girls as young as 9 year old being mass raped and
burnt alive by Militant Buddhists & Burmese Military, who have been systematically
engaged in these mass killings for the last two years.

There is documented ongoing Ethnic Genocide of Rohingya’s in Myanmar (Burma)

happening right now at this moment. In one week alone more than 500 Rohingya’s were
killed and over 73,000 fled the province of Rakhine to Bangladesh leaving their homeland.

A Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi who is at the helm of this country has
refused to acknowledge the Genocide and speak against it, remaining a silent observer and
supporter of this “Genocide & Ethnic Cleansing” being perpetrated under the watchful eyes
of Amnesty International and UNO. If Worlds Leaders and Humanitarian agencies like UNO,
International Rescue Committee (IRC), Red Cross and Amnesty International do not
interfere quickly to stop this violence against humanity; a humanitarian catastrophe bigger
than Darfur and Rwanda will take place in Myanmar.

We believe that every human being on this Earth has a right to live in freedom and with
dignity. We must strive to improve our lives and the lives of those who are not so fortunate
like these persecuted people in Burma. India is a country that has upheld the flag of secular
democracy and religious diversity in the World. India has been investing in Myanmar
(Burma) for their natural resources and has considerable influence with Myanmar’s
government. It is time that India took a decisive stance and leader’s role against this
atrocity happening in Myanmar.

Syed Bandagi Badshah said that a group of prominent Muslim Scholars of Hyderabad and
various Heads of distinguished organizations across the Indian subcontinent have decided
in a meeting organized by Idara-e-Khtaeeb-e-Deccan, to send Petitions addressing this
issue to Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, Secretary of United Nations
Commission on Human Rights (UNHCR), Director of Human Rights Watch (HRW),
President of Myanmar, Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and
Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana State. These Petitions will draw attention to the
Ethnic Genocide of Rohingya’s in Myanmar; urging these organizations and heads of states
to put pressure on the Government of Burma to condemn these atrocities and stop the
persecution of Rohingya’s by the Burmese Armed Forces and Militant Buddhists.

We also request the Government of India to intervene at International level and raise the
issue of Rohingya Genocide at UNO and UNHCR like other World Leaders from Turkey,
Canada, Sweden, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia and Middle Eastern States have done by
strongly condemning this Genocide and urging Myanmar’s government to stop the killings.
We urge the Government of India & Telangana State to provide humanitarian aid and
support to the displaced and destitute Rohingya’s that escaped the mass killings and are
currently living in Bangladesh and India in deplorable inhuman conditions. We also request
Government of India & Telangana State to accept, recognize and protect these Rohingya’s
by providing them with Refugee Status as per International Human Rights Directive.
