I’m writing this letter to give you some information on myself and to practice
my writing skills. A friend of mine told me about this course which she took
this past Fall semester and thought it was helpful. When she told me about a
few of the assignments she completed I knew the class would be beneficial to
me as well. Before college I was not a fan of writing assignments and or
writing papers, yet now after completing college level writing classes I feel
more confident in my work. I feel I will do well in this class and i’m ready to
improve my writing even more.
The assignments I want to stay away from include the social media campaign,
and the building of a vehicle charging station. The social media campaign I
truly did want to do, social media is such a major part in networking and
getting the word out, yet when looking at the directions and seeing I needed to
use excel in order to complete the project scared me. I took a computer class
freshman year with excel and was extremely confused, so I know trying to do
this assignment would stress me out quite a bit. Next is the charging station, I
mainly decided against this because it has no value to me. Creating this station
would not benefit me in terms of event planning. It would be beneficial
overall just not to me with my career choice.
Writing this letter made me realize what things I never thought about needing
to know or how to do it. Such as writing proposals or investment letters, or
thinking about dealing with finances. I’ve always had the goal, but never had
a plan on how to achieve it. I challenged myself to take full access of this
course, learn as much as I can in order to finally have the plan I need in order
to make my goal reality. This course might not teach me all I need to know in
terms of event planning, but it will teach me about small things that will add
to my bigger picture goal. So for that I look forward seeing where I am at the
end of this semester. I hope this semester is good for you as well professor.
Best wishes,
Kyra Miles
