We generally take for granted all of the contemporary technologies of writing we have in

today society, imagine how life would be if we were forced to write with only pen and paper.

Technology plays a tremendous role in my life due to the fact that not only did it help with my

insecurities it has made me feel more confident with my academic success. Technologies of

writing can impact people in many different ways both negative and positive. But we use the

advantages of technology to improve our living conditions.

So without this technology of writing my life would be completely different if I was

forced to write with pen and paper, first off my hand writing is sloppy and very hard to

comprehend. When I was younger I used to get made fun of about my hand writing all the time

in my history and English class it was so bad at a point of time in life my teachers couldn’t even

understand what I wrote. My peers would constantly take my paper away from me every day and

would go around showing it to the whole class. Although they might have been joking deep

down they made me very insecure about my work. This was one of the leading factors of how

my academic progress was affected in grade school. When given a written assignment I would

become so anxious and insecure about my hand writing that sometimes, I wouldn’t even do the

assignment because of the embarrassing comments my teacher would probably leave due to

illegibility of my work.
I believe if I had to write with just pen and paper I would not have been able to make it

as far in life as I have made it today. Many people would try to avoid conversation with

me because they would associate my lack of penmanship to my intelligence. This would

affect my social circles in multiple ways, one way is because a lot of people who I am

close friends with now I met most of them from off of social media and texting each

other. I really believe if we could not write on social media I would feel isolated from the

rest of the world because technology is not only important in my life but those around

me. But not only did I meet great friends I met my girlfriend off social media, so if

technology of writing was to be taken away from my social life I would have never been

given the opportunity to meet her. Some of my closest friends I do not even have the

opportunity to see them as much as I would like to, so we connect through electronic

devices. So without the use of electronic devices many of my friendships would be ruined

because we would have no way to keep in contact. If I had to rely on pen and paper the

meaning behind my letters would vanish due to the effort in trying to read my hand

writing. Technology plays a role in my work life because without technology it would be

very difficult for me to apply for jobs, but not just applying for these jobs but also being

eligible to be considered for a job.

First of all if I was forced to continue to live my life without the use of technology I

would probably spend most of my time in the house, because in my opinion the use of

technology is very important. Most of the technology of writing I use in my everyday life

is the ability to communicate with people out in the world. Technology of writing helped

me escape from the real world at times when I was feeling down about anything going on

in my life at home. The changes I would have to make to my everyday life would have a
positive and negative affect. The positive is that I would be forced to go outside and try

to make friends with people that are in my neighborhood instead of being in the house all

the time laying down on the phone. The negative is that it would leave me with little to

no knowledge of what is going on around the world.
