What is Demonstration Method?

Authentic materials are print, video, and audio materials students encounter in their daily
lives, such as change-ofaddress forms, job applications, menus, voice mail messages, radio
programs, and videos. Authentic materials are not created specifically to be used in the
classroom, but they make excellent learning tools for students precisely because they are
authentic. (Jacobson, E., Degener, S., & Purcell-Gates, V. 2003, 17-21). There are two main
categories of authentic materials—print and auditory. English as a second language (ESL),
adult secondary education (ASE), and adult basic education (ABE) students all can benefit
from using authentic print materials. ESL students often use authentic auditory materials,
although ABE and ASE students also may find them useful.

Why authentic materials can solve the problem and improve the students level of
comprehension

1. Based on the real life and situation.

2. Authentic materials bring learners into direct contact with a reality.
3. Authentic materials drawn from periodicals are always up-to-date and constantly
being updated.
4. Authentic materials came from a particular source.
5. Authentic materials provide us with a source of up-to-date materials that can be
directly relevant to English learners’ needs.

Give students authentic materials will boost their confidence and experience in real
language with the support of constructive feedback. The main benefits of using real English
are clear. By using authentic materials, students will encounter words and constructions
that they’d probably never see in formal ESL materials. They’ll learn abbreviations when
looking and handwritten notes, and hear the true tone, see body language and encounter
filler “umm”s of native speakers when listening.

Authentic materials will no-doubt expose your students to culture, so you can actually take
the context into consideration instead of just looking at how language is used. The fact that
these resources are the real deal will also increase students’ motivation and better meet the
learner’s needs. The goal is to understand and use English in real life, so using authentic
resources will teach the student what he or she needs to know to get there.

Authentic materials provides facilities that can help teacher in conducting the lesson to their
students.
It is offering:
1. It help in involving various sense to make learning permanent
2. Though, theacher’s behavior is autocratic, he invites the cooperation of students in
teaching learning proccess
3. It develops interest in the learners and motivate them for the active participation
4. It helps in achieving psycomotoric objectives
5. Any simple or complex materials will easy to understand

Combined with collaborative teaching technique, giving authentic materials will draw many
benefits for teacher and also learners. Students can learn english language based on the
specific context in real life.
