Hate Crimes

People have been categorized and labeled since early establishments began. Society is not

getting any better at it in any way, shape, or form. If anything it is becoming worse and

separating the country even more. Especially in the latinx community, they are labeled and

dimminshed so much in this racist country. In the US, the latinx community is being torn apart

by racial tension because slurs and protection issues between the people that accept immigrants

and the people who do not, this social issue is something that can no longer be allowed.

Hispanics are often labeled or categorized as “‘illegal alien’ or ‘illegal immigrant’ or just

plain ’illegal’,”(Garcia). These are the most popular terms being used today. They are

considering all undocumented immigrants as criminals. There are non-citizens joining the marine

corps, getting other jobs, or going to school. They are all contributing to the economy and not

leaching off the government like many United States citizens are doing. Non-citizens do not

qualify for food stamps and section 8, which are government programs for citizens. The

undocumented latinx people are being accused of many things when they're mostly here for a

better life.

On the other hand, some people, usually republicans, feel that the immigrants are taking

jobs, and increasing crime rates. These acquisitions usually come from unemployed citizens that

are too lazy to find a job or just hate the latinx community. They consider the latinx as less

educated and believe they have a higher chance of landing in jail than citizens (Why). The latinx

community is penalized because how these people portray them. Most of these people do not

believe in equality and feel that they are the superior race. Just this past weekend over 280

immigrants were arrested while working at the technology plant (Chavez). They were all charged

with working illegally in the United States. It is understood that someone told authorities about

them.

In addition, a bust of this gratitude to ICE is a goldmine. They arrested, husbands, wifes,

brothers, and sisters that were only trying to make a living. They were not being criminals, or

asking for welfare checks, or sitting on the side of the interstate asking for money. The group

was all working and contributing back to the economy.

The community is always going to be labeled as “immigrants” or “aliens” as if they are

other-worldly. The slur is unlawful, they portray an image on the community that is harmful.

They do not call other people that commit crimes illegals. For example “alleged terrorists and

child molesters aren't labeled illegals” (Garcia). Somehow the people who are being accused and

labeled get such hectic slur posed on them. This community was affected by entire group being

removed substantially because, it ruined families and is going lower income for the city.

This issue is so misunderstood and is something that should have been taken care of in

the past. We are in the twenty-first century and are still going through, segregation, racism, and

obvious bigotry. People need to realize that there is no such thing as an illegal alien, if you want

to move to a different country and have a different life, as long as you are not causing trouble

you should be able to.
