9 ACTIVITIES OF RSK
1)INTRODUCTION – RSK
 Karnataka State Department of Agriculture established a basic unit of
agricultural department situated at hobli level is called Raitha Samparka
Kendras.
 It is a replaced T and V system .
 Launced in 2000 – 2001 Financial year
 Each rsk is headed by Agricultural Officer and Assistant Agricultural
Officer and the Techno promoter staffs.
 The number of officers depnds upon the agricultural operation carrinyg
out in the respective hobli.
 Farmers can visit to the RSK either directly or by contact in mobile
phones for their doubts regarding crop production , plant production,
schemes etc..,
 Techno promoter staffs visit to the villages and interact with the group of
farmers frequently .

 There are 745 RSKs across karnataka , 1 for each Hobli.

 This RSKs cater to the need of 5628 Gram Panchayaths covering 78 lakhs
farmer families.
2) MANDATES/OBJECTIVES OF RSK
1. Provide technical information on – crop selection

crop production

market information

2. Provide primary seed and soil testing facilities locally.

3. Facilitate on site provision inputs- seeds , biofertilizers, plant protection


chemicals .

4. Provide on farm demonstration about new technologies developed by


both public and private sector.

Eligibility Criteria : Any farmer can avail of the services rendered by the
RSK’s.

Beneficiaries of the scheme:

 All farmers of the State are the beneficiaries of the scheme.


 All the private and public sector agencies engaged in agriculture related
activities are also the potential beneficiaries of the scheme.

No.of Beneficiaries covered:

 As on date 26,56,311 farmers have been benefited by the RSK’s.


 Progressive farmers, NGO’s Religious and Philanthropical Institutions
have come forward to provide free sites for constructing RSK
buildings.
 Reliance Petrochemicals Ltd., have come forward to establish their
retail outlets in selected RSK’s to supply petrol & diesel to farmers at
subsidized rates.
 The proposal is under active consideration & is likely to be launched in
2004-05.

Extension/Future Plans:

 It is proposed to Computerise all the RSK’s and provide them with


Telephones and Internet connectivity to harness the benefits of the
information technology to provide latest information related to
agriculture development to all farmers of the State.
 It is also proposed to broad base the extension services at RSK’s by
converging the activities of line departments like Horticulture,
Sericulture etc. and make single delivery point for all agriculture
related activites.

1) KBY – KRISHI BAGYA YOJANA
