Job Shadow Reflection Entry:
I chose to shadow attorney Nedza because I am interested in law and criminal justice. This
job shadow was held on-site at the local. Attorney Nedza was very helpful in guiding me toward
this career even if this might not be my occupation when I am older.
During my visit at, I was able to watch a small court case from beginning to end. I was able to
see firsthand what lawyers do in a courtroom, and I even was able to speak to the judge afterward
and ask him questions about the case and other cases in DuBois.
One rule of thumb for this job is that you must be able to argue and defend your position.
Hours for this occupation can be scattered in all instances because you may have to work long
days. Classes for this occupation involve lots of reading and writing and schooling is expensive.
This job shadow has impacted my career goals. It made me realize that there are a lot of jobs
that I am interested in and I should not have to worry so much that I will get stuck with a job that I
hate. I would like to research more on this occupation but there are so many that I can look into.
My next steps would be to do more research on the specific things that I like about this job.

Post-Secondary Planning Event Reflection Entry:
I attended the READY presentation on government and public safety. I attended this event
because I am forced to by law to attend two of these. I would like to graduate. During this
presentation I was introduced to six qualified individuals that love their jobs.
I have learned that in order to be qualified in this line of work, you must be a hard worker.
usually in governing jobs you will have to work long hours. You must be good with people as well.
This experience did not make me want to go into politics. Honestly the people being
interviewed looked constantly tired and this is not something that I would like when it comes to
pros for a career. My next step would to see if there is still anything in these fields that I might like
when I am older.

Post-Secondary Planning Event Reflection Entry:

I attended the Communication Careers presentation at DAHS. I chose this event because, yet
again, I would like it if I graduated. This is a requirement. During this event I met all kinds of
charismatic people.
During this presentation I’ve learned that you must be a peoples person if you want to enter
this line of work. Every single person at that interview had an array of personality. You must be
patient, and always remember that the customer is always right.
This experience made me come to the realization that I might have an interest in these types
of jobs. I liked how they came across as people and I certainly would want to accomplish something
like that. My next step would be to research more on communication subjects.

I have known for all of my life that I was an auditory learner. I don't do well with reading. The
thing that I have enjoyed about learning about auditory learning was the study tips. I learned that
one study tip is to record your study material and then listen to the recording that you made and I
actually might use this in the future.

REFLECTION 2: Career Selector Exploration Activity Summary

For my careers I chose Archaeologist and Anthropologist. Two pros that these jobs offer is that I
am able to work indoors as well as outdoors and that I would be traveling for my work. Two
negative things about these jobs is that I could possibly spend long periods of time away from my
family and that the fieldwork may be challenging.

REFLECTION 3: Education/School Selector Activity Summary

The two schools that I looked at were Temple and Penn State. They are both big schools and
aren't very far from home. My next step in figuring out if they are right for me is to visit their
schools and go on a tour.
