The process of finding out the resultant force is called composition of forces.

Concurrent forces are those forces whose lines of action meet at one point.
If a given foce acting on a body does not change the position of the body, but
keeps it in equilibrum, then its effect is to produce internal stress in the body.
Varingon's theorem of moments states that if a number of coplaner forces acting on
a particle are in equilibrium, then the algebraic sum of their moments about any
point is equal to the moment of their resultant force about the same point.
According to law of moments, if a number of coplaner forces acting on a particle
are in equilibrium, then the algebraic sum of their moments about any point in
their plane is zero.
If a body is acted upon by a number of copaner non-concurrent forces , it may
rotate about itself without moving, move in any direction rotating about itself, be
completely at rest.
A couple cannot be replaced by a single force.
The term 'centroid' is same as 'centre of gravity'. the centre of gravity of an
isosceles triangle with base p and sides q from its base is root under four p
square minus q square whole divided by six.
The centre of gravity of an equilateral triangle with each side 'a', is 'a' divided
by two root three from any of the three sides.
The centre of gravity of a quadrant of a circle lies along its central radius at a
distance of zero point six 'r'.
The centre of gravity of a right angled triangle does not lie at its geometrical
centre.
The moment of inertia of a square of side a about its diagonal is 'a' raised to the
power four by twelve.
A body will begin to move down an inclined plane if the angle of inclination of the
plane is greater than the angle of friction.
When a body falls freely under gravitational force, it possesses no weight.
Tension in the cable supporting a lift is more when the lift is moving upwards with
an acceleration.
Two bodies which rebound after impact are called elastic bodies.
Work done is said to be zero, when some force acts on a body, but displacement is
zero or no force acts on a body but some displacement takes place.
The potential energy of vertically raised body is equal to the kinetic energy of a
vertically falling body.
When the spring of a watch is wound, it will possess strain energy.
The absolute zero pressure will be when molecular momentum of the system becomes
zero.
A closed system is one in which heat and work crosses the boundary of the system
but the mass of the working substance does not cross the boundary of the system.
The conditions of temperature and pressure at 0 degree celsius and 760 mm of
mercury pressure are termed as normal temperature and pressure.
The numerical value of the thermal capacity and the water equivalent of the
substance are same.
The heat and mechanical energies are mutually convertible. This statement was
established by Boyle.
The heat and work are boundary phenomena. The heat and work represent the energy
crossing the boundary of the system. The heat and work are path functions.
According to first law of thermodynamics, total energy of a system remains
constant.
The heat and work are mutually convertible. This statement is called first law of
thermodynamics.
A machine which violates the first law of thermodynamics is known as perpetual
motion machine of the first kind.
A perpetual motion machine of the first kind is impossible according to first law
of thermodynamics.
According to Kelvin-Planck's statement, a perpetual motion of the second kind is
impossible.

known as perfect gas.
