Procedure

1. 10g of €-caprolactam was weighted, 0.2g of PEO and 4 drops of N-acetylcaprolactam was
placed in a test tube. The test tube holder was used to hold the test tube.
2. The reactant was melted in the test tube through the process of soaking in a hot oil bath. A
tip of spatula of NaH was added after the meting process occur. The reaction was assured
as the NaH which was recently added in contact with the mixture.
3. Approximately 2-4 minutes of heating was continued.
4. Once the reaction undergo reflux, the reaction is considered finished. The reaction becomes
more viscous.
5. The product of was weighed.
