WELCOME
The Holy Spirit is a gift to all Christians. That gift is so rich that
it produces many fruits.

INTRODUCTORY RITES
ENTRANCE HYMN:

Holy Spirit, Lord of Light - Edward Casswall

Holy Spirit, Lord of Light, from the clear celestial heights,

Thy pure beaming radiance give. Come, thou Father of the poor,
Come with treasures which endure, come thou Light of all that live.

Thou, of all consolers best, thou, the soul’s delightsome guest,

Dost refreshing peace bestow, thou in toil art comfort sweet,
Pleasant coolness in the heat, solace in the midst of woe.

Light immortal, light divine, visit thou these hearts of thine,

And our inmost being fill: if thou take thy grace away,
Nothing pure in man will stay, all his good is turned to ill.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew, on our dryness pour thy dew,
Wash the stains of guilt away: bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill, guide the steps that go astray.

Thou, on those who ever more thee confess and thee adore,
In thy sevenfold gifts descend, give them comfort when they die
Give them life with thee on high; give them joys that never end.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
READING/S
Galatians 5:22-26 (The fruits of the Spirit)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to
Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and
desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with
the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and
envying each other.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm 104:24, 29-30.
24 How many are your works, Lord!
    In wisdom you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
29 When you hide your face,
    they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
they die and return to the dust.
30 When you send your Spirit,
    they are created,
and you renew the face of the ground.
FOCUS
GOSPEL ACCLIMATION
Alleluia, alleluia!
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; he has sent me to bring
Good News to the poor.”
Alleluia!

GOSPEL
Luke 4:16-21 (The Spirit of the Lord is upon me)

16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on

the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.
He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was
handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is
written:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19     to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a]
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant
and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were
fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this
scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS/ PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

Introduction
We have been blessed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, so let us confidently pray
to God our Father.

Prayers of the Faithful

That through the Spirit of fortitude and of wisdom, you give to all the baptized
the courage to proclaim that “Jesus is the Lord”, so that the message of
salvation bears fruit in the hearts of all.

That through the Spirit of hope and of good counsel, you strengthen Christians
in a sincere quest for unity, so that through constant prayer and trusting in the
Lord alone, they may soon see the fulfillment of their desire.

That through the Spirit of holiness and of zeal, you grant to the Society,
through the example of her martyrs, the grace to witness to the Gospel to the
utmost bounds of the earth, so that the whole world may be set alight with the
fire of your love and consoled by the forgiveness of God which makes all things
new.

That through the Spirit of knowledge and of awe in God’s presence, you guide
those who have the responsibility of choosing a new successor of St Ignatius in
a true desire to do your holy will, so that in that will alone we may find true
joy and what is good for the whole apostolic body of the Society.

That through the Spirit of charity and of brotherhood, you encourage those
responsible for the government of nations to search out ways of peace and of
concord, so that all peoples may be able to live in justice and in freedom.
That through the Spirit of unity and of grace, you unite us all in
one body, through communion in your holy mysteries, so that in
giving thanks always to the Lord for the gifts we have received,
we may be able to witness to the beauty of our vocation,

Concluding Prayer
Father, you renew the face of the Earth by the power of your
Spirit. Hear the prayers we make today in the name of that

One bread, one body, one Lord of all

One cup of blessing which we bless
And we, though many, throughout the earth
We are one body in this one Lord
Gentile or Jew
Servant or free
Woman or man
No more
One bread, one body, one Lord of all
One cup of blessing which we bless
And we, though many, throughout the earth
We are one body in this one Lord
Many the gifts, many the works
One in the Lord of all
One bread, one body, one Lord of all
One cup of blessing which we bless
And we, though many, throughout the earth
We are one body in this one Lord
We are one body in this one Lord

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
Priest
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
The Lord be with you.

All
And with your spirit.

Priest
Lift up your hearts.

All
We lift them up to the Lord.

Priest
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All
It is right and just.

Priest
It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.
For through his Paschal Mystery, he accomplished the marvellous deed,
by which he has freed us from the yoke of sin and death,
summoning us to the glory of being now called
a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for your own
possession, to proclaim everywhere your mighty works,
for you have called us out of darkness into your own wonderful light.
And so, with Angels and Archangels,
with Thrones and Dominions,
and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven,
we sing the hymn of your glory,
as without end we acclaim:

All
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he
who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

All kneel.
Priest

You are indeed Holy, O Lord,

the fount of all holiness.
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
so that they may become for us
the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed
and entered willingly into his Passion,
he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:
take this, all of you, and eat of it,
for this is my body,
which will be given up for you.
In a similar way, when supper was ended,
he took the chalice
and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:
take this, all of you, and drink from it,
for this is the chalice of my blood,
the Blood of the new and eternal covenant,
which will be poured out for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this in memory of me.

Priest
The mystery of faith.

All
When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup,
we proclaim your Death, O Lord,
until you come again.
Priest
Therefore,
as we celebrate
the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,
we offer you, Lord,
the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray
that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church,
spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Benedictour Pope
and Denis our Bishop and all the clergy.
Remember also our brothers and sisters
who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
and all who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray,
that with the Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God,
with the blessed Apostles,
and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you
through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through him, and with him, and in him,
O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honour is yours,
for ever and ever.

All
Amen.
SANCTUS [HOLY,HOLY]
Holy, Holy, Lord God of Heavenly hosts.
Holy, Holy, Lord God of Heavenly hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
