Please use the introduction & Project Overview from Facilitator Manual and align is as per the
discussions during training and mock GMB trials.

Section 1: Focus Group Discussion:

Sec A: What is inclusion?
Sec B: Why inclusion is important?

 When studies will be good then other children will see them studying well and will make
an effort to improve their studies.
 Children will work in fields when they will not study.
 Children will get good job but getting job depends on luck and not on education.
Sec C: What are the barriers of inclusion?
 When children do not have book, copy, they get stubborn.
 Children watch tv and waste their time.
 Children, after coming to school, run away outside and come back in the evening.
 Children have more interest on playing instead of education.
 Some children are weak in studies, so they cannot study well.
 Some children get sick. Due to poor health their inclusion suffers.

Sec D: What could be done to increase participation of children at risk of marginalization in


school?

 Uniform should be provided to the children.


 Parents should be attentive to the education of their children.
 Children would study when parents would give attention on studies.

Notes from discussion:


 Some children are weak in studies and they cannot study well.
 Some children get sick and due to their bad health condition, their study effects.
 Parents should be attentive to the education of their children. Due to the parent’s
attention, children learning will increase. Children would study when parents would give
attention on studies.
 Children also come to school when they have pocket money.
 Due to the teacher’s attention children learn more.
 When children are interested they ask the teacher to assign them work and they also do
their homework daily.
 Sometimes children do domestic work like cleaning etc. due to domestic work their time
for study decrease.
 Due to poverty parents cannot buy copy, pencil and bags for the children.

 When availability of copy, pencil and bag decreases, then children’s interest decreases.
When children will not have all these this they will insist.
 When child’s attendance increase, then their inclusion will also increase because their
studies will be good when they will be present in the class.
 When availability of pocket money increase, then child’s interest will also increase.
Pocket money creates interest in them and they come to school with interest.
 When mental ability of child increase, then child’s interest will also increase. As, when
child’s brain is sharp, then he is interested in studies. When their mind is weak, they do
not have any interest.

 Children are more interested when they have uniform.


 When doing homework decrease, then inclusion will also decrease because when
children do not do homework then they forget previous lesson.
 When parent’s attention on children’s education increase, then children study well and
their inclusion will increase.
 When teacher’s attention decreases, then inclusion will also decrease because children
will not study if teacher is not attentive.
 When teacher is attentive in the class, children are fearful and they study at home due
to teacher’s fear.
 When teacher’s strictness increases, then children’s attendance will decrease. If teacher
beats children, then children do not come to school.
 when children have interest for studies then their will bright up. The child will study well
and will be praised by teachers and parents.
 When child’s inclusion will increase, then parent’s happiness will also increase. Parents
will also be happy when the child will study.
 When interest of child would increase, teacher would beat him/her less. Due to less
strictness of teacher, child’s result will be good. Due to good result of the child, teachers
will be happy.
 When teachers will be happy, parents will also be happy. When parents will be happy,
they will give more attention.
 When parents would give attention then children will study and that would make
parents happy.
 When parent’s attention increase, then child’s attendance will also increase. Parents will
send their child to school regularly.
 When child will regularly come to school then child would study and work towards
his/her better life.
 When child’s attendance will increase, then child’s inclusion and child’s interest will also
increase.
 When parents give pocket money to children, then child’s interest increases. Children
cry if parents do not give pocket money to them.
 When child’s attendance will increase, then inclusion will also increase. Children come
to school, then they will study well.
 When children do homework then, they are able to learn the lesson.
 When teacher’s strictness increases then children will study and inclusion will increase..
 When teacher’s strictness increase, then child’s attendance will decrease. Children are
reluctant in coming to school when teacher beats them.

 When child labor increase, then child’s interest for study will decrease. Children are
unable to maintain interest in study as they develop a greed for money.
 When parents are poor, they strive hard for their children so child can study so they may
not remain poor like their parents.
 If poverty increase, then parents are unable to fulfill child’s needs like pencil, copy, bag.
 When parent’s attention increase, then inclusion will also increase.
 When interest of children increases then inclusion will also increase.
 When home environment improves then child’s interest will also increase. Due to goo
environment children do not do labor, study with freedom and do not get involved in
bad company.
 When child’s inclusion will increase, then result will improve.

 To increase children’s interest prize should be given.
 There should be treatment facilities for the child when they get sick.
 Teachers should be good, and free tuition should be taught to children.
 There should be an arrangement of transport since, for some children, school is far
away.
 If school will upgrade to 8th class, it will be beneficial because there is no school nearby.
