Term 1 Religious Education

■ Each day, students complete 30 minutes of Religious Education


■ In Term 2, students will be completing two units of Religious Education. Each unit
runs for 5 weeks.
■ The Religious Education Units of Work for Term 2 include:
1. We are Called
2. Choosing to Do Good

“We are Called”

■ In this Religious Education Unit of Work, the


following topics will be covered:
1. The meaning of work and how humans’ work can
help care for others, creation and ourselves.
2. Jesus’s special work to assist humans to develop
a close relationship with God. Jesus shares His
work through the Sacrament of Baptism
3. The importance of the Third and Seventh
Commandments in our lives.

Assessment in
Religious Education
■ In this unit, students will not be assessed on
their faith, rather their knowledge on the
Catholic Tradition.
■ The major assessment that students will
complete is an iMovie image slideshow on their
chosen Saint which will be completed over 2
weeks.

What can you do


with your child?
1. When allocating family chores,
discuss with your child how
each chore assists the
environment, others and the
individual.

2. Create an affirmation wall in


your child’s bedroom, where
they can write positive notes
about their special gifts and
talents.

3. If you, your child or


friend/family member has
been baptised, share your
memories of the Sacrament.
In Week 4, students will be
asked to bring a photo of their
Baptism to class.

Parent Activity - Baptism Prayer Chain


■ On a coloured piece of
paper, you will write: ‘I
Baptise you (insert
name), in the Name of
the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy
Spirit’.

■ Once you have written it


out, I will staple the
chains together and
display it in the Prayer
Corner.

■ Students will complete a


similar activity later on in
the unit.

Class Mass

■ Please save the date for our class Mass on Wednesday 27th February 2019.
