Exam Requirements
The Praxis Core Exam is a test that one is required to pass prior to being accepted
into any Bachelor’s programs for education. In order to be accepted into a Bachelor’s
program for education at UNLV, NSC, or UNR, one must pass all three portions of the
exam. In order to pass the math portion of the Praxis Core Exam, one must receive a
score of 150. In order to pass the reading portion of the Praxis Core Exam, one must
receive a score of 156. Finally, in order to pass the writing portion, one must receive a
score of 162.
Exam Preparation
In order to prepare for the Praxis Core Exam, I read the information about the
exam. I read about the requirements, the rules, the results, and how to better prepare
myself for each portion of the exam. I also did a few questions on each subject on ETS. I
have also recently taken some math classes to prepare for the math portion of the exam. I
honestly have not spent too much time on the reading and writing portions. I thought I
Exam Results
I took the practice Praxis Core Exam tests for reading, math, and writing. For
math, I scored a 66% which means that I need improvement before I pass the exam. I
need to study some topics for math. For reading, I was actually really surprised at how
tricky it was. I scored 45%, that means I am unlikely to pass this portion of the exam and
therefore, I need practice. Finally, for writing, I scored 80% which means that I am likely
also been able to sign up for EdReady, that way I am able to study for the math portion of
the exam. Also, I will keep in mind for the exam to use my test taking strategies like for
example reading the questions before the passage and using the elimination process. I
will also be using the tools that NSC has to offer like for example tutoring and books in
the library with questions that can prepare you. Last but not least, I will use the questions
that I didn’t finish on ETS to study for the Praxis Core Exam.
