Synopsis : This course is intended to develop their personal leadership qualities. They will
be exposed to leadership theories so that they could develop an insight that
leadership itself is a dynamic relationship based on mutual influence and
common purpose between leaders and followers. Levels of analysis of
leadership theory: individual, group and organizational.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
TEACHING METHODOLOGY
1. Lectures: lecture outlines are provided. Students develop each topic in ways that learning
becomes meaningful to them. They are required to write personal reflections and develop personal
learning portfolios.
2. Peer Teaching & Class Leadership Role: Students take turn to be responsible for leading the
class. They work in pairs on a given topic and lead in class discussion and class activity. Each pair
shall submit a written plan which outlines specific discussion and activity to be accomplished.
They also plan for the learning outcome during the week they lead. This exercise enables students
to discover their dominant leadership traits and styles, as well as their strengths and shortcomings
as leaders. They will get a feedback on their leadership performance through peer evaluation.
3. Social networking: Students are encouraged to interact actively and set up their own social
networking to foster group learning. This is to provide exposure for sociability and exercise of
