Observation Form 2
For the things you observed, place a check. Please explain further about the checked item
directly below the particular section. Provide overall comments and reflections at the end.
Explain: Most of the student engaged in the learning activities. The time provided was enough
for most of the students to be engaged in learning process. Teaching strategies were aligned
with the objectives of the lesson to provide a successful learning for the majority of the students.
Explain: Beside lecturing, the teacher used question/answer technique effectively to challenge
students in critical thinking and encourage them to get involved in learning process. The teacher
provided effective and clear answers for all the questions of the students and guided group
activity.
Explain: He used technological tools effectively. He showed me that he formed online groups of
students and using online quiz, assignment or such programs.
TYPE OF STUDENT GROUPING:
____ Small Groups _____ Whole Group _____ Pairs _____ Individuals
Explain:
Students were sitting in groups of four or five. The teacher was touring around during the
lesson. They did not change places or move around after the group discussion. They kept their
seats all the lesson.
Explain: Students were given a discussion question and asked to write their answer down. The
answers of all the groups were revised and clarified together. Also, a video was played to
explain a question they asked.
MANAGEMENT/DISCIPLINE:
____ Stated Expectations for Behavior _____ Positive Reinforcement
____ Redirection of Inappropriate Behavior ____ Encouragement of Students
_____ Self-disciplined Students _____ Effective Time Management
_____ Materials Ready _____ Enthusiasm for Teaching/Learning
Explain: The teacher had a strong class management. He was well prepared with materials he
needed and his timing. He made necessary warnings when students got loud during the group
discussion. He told them that group answers would help them to make up their bad grades and
tried to encourage them with positive comments like “very good”, “liked the definition” and so on.
Actually, I could tick all the answer because the class seemed like a combination of all .I mean,it
was possible to see a bit from all.
In general, it was a successful and active lesson. Majority of the students got engaged and
participated actively. It seemed like both sides knew what they were expecting from each other
and there was a respectful and confident atmosphere in the class. Even though I hear lots of
negative comments about high school students, it was a peaceful class that I was surprised.
