SAMPURNA is an registered NGO, working since September 1993.

The main motive of

SAMPURNA is to make the people residing in the slums i.e. all the down troddens and
the women of our country self-dependent. Sampurna through its various centers has been
till now successful in making about 2000 girls and women self-dependent and of some
use to the society. Since 13 years, it has been initiating various programs of training,
education etc to increase the employment in our country.

Though, Sampurna is an non-governmental organization, but it is in real the power of

various people who want to develop and want to bring a positive change in this country.
It basically develops and trains all the down troddens and financially weak people and
make them fit for earning bread for themselves and their families, and also do some good
to our country. We can also say that Sampurna develops the people in many families to
bread-earners. The area of development though has no boundaries still Sampurna is
trying its best to fulfill its objective of development by helping the down troddens,
especially the women of Delhi, to become self-dependent and employed. It does not
differentiate between the people on the basis of caste, color, region, gender and treats
them as equals and wants to place women of Delhi on a high status, a status where they
are self-dependent, bread earners of their families, are respected and are looked upon.
Sampurna wants revolutionize our society and make them realize that women cannot only
manage the household work but they can also manage the country.

Sampurna's aim is to unite the poor class by developing and training them, with the elite
class, as they both are children of the same country. It helps in resolving the disputes in
the families and hence, uniting two brothers. Sampurna unites thetwo classes of the
country to develop the whole country.

Sampurna was earlier a dream seen by Dr. Shobha Vijender which became reality in
1993. Dr. Shobha Vijender has done M.M.W., because she did not want to sit at home see
the occurrences instead she wanted to change and develop the country into a better place
to live. She gathered other educated people around herwho shared the same feelings and
thoughts, and wanted to take a step towards development and formed SAMPURNA. She
left her government job so that she could devote her full time to Sampurna. She changed
the meaning of social work by emphasizing that social work is not done by giving one-
time donations, but social work is done when you see to it that your donation or you
yourself are contributing towards the development of people around you. She also said
that Sampurna will conduct various programs of special education, health care and
various creative programs to analyze the skills hidden people. And we feel proud In
saying that she's successfully performing on her said words.

Sampurna took its first step towards development by starting a Family Counseling
Centre(FCC) in 1993, The need of FCC was felt due to the growing nuclear family
traditions as the people in these family cannot look upon to their eiders for advice for
resolving their family problems, The problems in these families can due to any issue e.g.
ego problems, adjustment problems etc. and as the family has no elders to guide them,
these small issues take up a huge shape, leading to various crimes in the country. When
both the parents are working, if they want to they are not able to give required time to
their child. And in return, the child gets influenced by various factors like television,
radio, his company of friends or from anybody. This influence can be positive or
negative. If negative, it may lead to wrong development of the child and the child may
wander on the wrong path of life. To find a solution to all these problems FCC was
formed. And because of god's grace the FCC is running successfully. With the help of its
professional family counselor, many problems of many families have been soughed out,
Changing time and the success of FCC motivated many women and men to take part in
Sampurna for the development of the society. And from there Sampurna took its another
step towards development by means of starting Sanjay Jhuggi camp and Rajeev Jhuggi
camp. In these camps free adult education, child education, sewing lessons and
counseling was given to the poor people living in the jhuggis specially women and
children.

Because of these programs, Sampurna gave people a reason to unite and learn and
experience something new. Listening to the problems of those people, thinking about
various ways to solve these problems became a habitual task for Sampurna. As the
financial base was very weak for these programs, Dr. Shobha Vijender herself,
contributing money form her household to keep the spirit of this program at peak.
Invitations for joining this camp and helping it to be a success, were sent to many people
and the camp which was started by only 10 members now has 55 members supporting it.

In Delhi, in every street and corner there are beauty parlors. Around 25,000 are there, and
mostly the age of girls working in these parlors is less than 18, they work from 9:00 in
the morning till 9:00 in the evening. Even after all their hard work they don't get the right
remuneration or return for their work not only this their work is neither appreciated nor
thanked, instead they are looked down as petty workers. This profession is the only
profession for which only a little time is required to learn it and practice it. The beauty
sectors is one of the most booming sector in our country as every woman and girl wants
to take care of her beauty in a special manner.
