Instructions:
Research different media resources (at least two) to find out about a topic of interest and take notes
on the topic. Your information can come from different media sources, for example:
Newspaper (paper version or online version)
Radio program
T.V. program, news
Internet (websites, blogs, etc.)
Podcasts
Others…
Task 1: Pick a topic you are interested in. The topic can cover various areas: arts, culture,
current issues, economy, education, environmental issues, food, health, history,
languages, medicine, politics, technology, etc. Research it on the internet to find more
information. Find one article about the same topic, read it and extract the main issues
and information. Take notes as you find more information about the topic.
Task 2: Before you start writing, discuss the topic and the article you have chosen with the
teacher to make sure that you will be able to find out more about this topic from
other sources.
Task 3: Write down the key points or issues that you already know or have learned about
this topic (What did I know? What new information have I found? Have my ideas about the
topic changed? etc.)
Task 4: To help you structure your notes and presentation about the article, remember to
include the 5 W’s – Who, What, Where, When, Why and How.
Task 5: Write a short report using the information you have extracted from your sources and
from your article. Submit your report to the teacher for corrections. Include all the
sources you have consulted under “Sources”.
Task 6: Prepare your oral presentation from the notes you have created. Know the article
thoroughly and include enough information so that the main issues are clearly
understood by all your classmates.
Task 7: Relax and present. Speak clearly make eye contact with the audience. DO NOT read
your notes; you should be able to present the key points without reading your text.
Be ready to answer any questions from your classmates.
