UNIVERSITI TUN HUSSEIN ONN MALAYSIA
BFC32703 – SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
SEM II, 2018/2019

Q1 Outline & elaborate the critical elements for construction project management.

Planning
 Define objectives.
 Define resources needed in the project.
 Develop strategy.

Implementation
 Distribute resources.
 Supervise implementation.
 Coordinate activities.
 Motivate workers.

Controlling
 Compare between progress and planning.
 Reporting.
 Settle problems.

Planning a construction project enables saving time and cost of a project. The cost of the
construction management includes employee, material, resources and machineries. Under
implementation, coordinating activities saves time. The construction project should follow
the schedule. So, there will be no delay which my lead to increase in cost. Finally, these
elements very important to maintain the quality of the project to achieve to the clients desire
without exceeding the cost of project.

Q2 Please discuss the importance of percentage S-Curve in project planning and

scheduling.

An S-curve is a project management tool that tracks progress over time and allows for a
quick visual to determine project status. As the project continues and the S-curve grows, the
graph will turn into a historical representation and allow for quick comparison to actual data.
Some of the most common uses for s-curves are to measure progress, evaluate performance
and make cash-flow forecasts. An s-curve is helpful in monitoring the success of a project
because actual, real-time cumulative data of various elements of the project, such as cost can
be compared with projected data. The degree of alignment between the two graphs reveals the
progress or lack thereof whichever element is being studied. If corrections need to be made
to get back on track, the s-curve can help identify them.
Q3 Make comparison between the two most prominent green building rating tools which
are Green Building Index (GBI) and MyCrest.

Green Building Index (GBI) MyCrest

What is GBI? What is MyCrest?
Malaysia's industry recognised green
rating tool for buildings to promote Malaysian Carbon Reduction and
sustainability in the built environment Environmental Sustainability Tool, aims to
