Read the passage, then answer only five of the following six questions:

Food, we are told, is our body's fuel. It provides us with energy. We

use energy whenever we move a muscle, even when we think or merely

breathe.

The machinery of our body is driven by the food we eat. The source

of all food is green plants of every kind. Plants are called producers.
Question one

This is because they make their own food. They do this by using light

energy from the Sun, carbon dioxide from the air and water from the

soil to produce food-in the form of glucose.

Plants are irreplaceable food resource for humans. Almost all human

foods are plants or organisms that eat plants. We eat the flesh of

animals, birds and fish. These creatures have all eaten plants, mostly

grass, and so they provide us with energy-giving food that plants have

first made.
