May Govardhana Hill, which for seven days became an umbrella shading Lord
K���a's arm decorated with the luster of His dark shoulder, and which protected the
people of Gokula, their hearts wilting because of the torrential rains, always
delight us all.

When Indra frightened him, P�rvat�'s elder brother, Mount Main�ka, remembering
the strength of family ties, hurriedly took shelter of the ocean. Powerful
Govardhana Hill, however, was able to easily remove Indra's stubborn pride. I pray
Govardhana Hill may always delight us all.

Lord K���a manifested a mountainlike form, clearly proclaimed, "I am the great
mountain," and, His eyes wide with pleasure, ate the feast the cowherd men had
offered to Govardhana Hill. May auspicious Govardhana Hill always delight us all.

The great worship Lord K���a created for Govardhana Hill at the beginning of
K�rttika is splendidly manifested even today. Govardhana Hill is wealthy with the
pastimes of the surabh� cows and buffaloes, and it nourishes them with its

A person who resides here in V�nd�vana, whose heart is free from sin, who
controls his senses, who always stays with the devotees, and who carefully reads
these eight verses, which bring to mind the transcendental virtues of V�nd�vana,
the best of all forest gardens, will attain love for and enjoy transcendental
pastimes with Lord K���a.

O Har�-n�ma! The tips of the toes of Your lotus feet are constantly being
worshiped by the glowing radiance emanating from the string of gems known as the
Upani�ads, the crown jewels of all the Vedas. You are eternally adored by liberated
souls, such as N�rada and �ukadeva. O Har�-n�ma! I take complete shelter of You.*

yad-�bh�so -the dim light of which; apy -even; udyan -rising; kavalita-
swallowed up; bhava-of repeated birth and death; dhv�nta-darkness; vibhavo-power;
d��am� -of the eyes; tattva-to the truth; andh�n�m -blind; ap� -even; di�at�
-indicates; bhakti-devotional service; pra�ayin�m-causing; janas -people; tasya-of
Him; ud�ttam� -exalted; jagat� -in the world; bhagavan-of the Supreme Personality
of Godhead; n�ma-of the name; tara�e-in the deliverance; k�t� -pious person; te -of
You; nirvaktum� -tp describe; ka -who?iha-here; mahim�nam� -glory; prabhavati-is
able.
O sun of the Holy Name, even the dim light of Your early dawn gives the sight
of pure devotion to they who are blind to the truth. What learned person in this
world is able to describe Your transcendental glory?

apaiti n�ma sphura�ena tat te
pr�rabdha-karmeti virauti veda�
The Vedas declare that although meditation on impersonal Brahman cannot bring
freedom from past karma, O Holy Name, Your appearance at once makes all karma
disappear.

kamalanayana-gop�candra-v�nd�vanendr��
pra�atakaru�a-k����v ity aneka-svar�pe
tvayi mama ratir uccair vardhat�� n�madheya
O Holy Name, I pray that my love for You in Your many forms, such as
Aghadamana (Crusher of Agh�sura), Ya�od�nandana (Son of Ya�od�), Nandas�nu (Son of
Nanda), Kamalanayana (Lotus-eyed), Gop�candra (Moon of the gop�s), V�nd�vanendra
(King of V�nd�vana), Pra�atakaru�a (Merciful to the surrendered souls), and K���a,
may greatly increase.

bhavato -of you; n�ma -of the name; svar�pa-the form; dvaya�-both; p�rvasm�t -as
before; param -great; eva -indeed; hanta -indeed; karu�am� -compassion; tatra-
there; ap� -even; j�n�mahe-we know; yas -one who; tasmin -ion that; vihit�par�dha-
committed an offense; nivaha� -multitude; pr��� -living entity; samant�d
-completely; bhaved-may be; �syena-with the mouth; idam -this; up�sya -worshiping;
so -He; ap� -even; h� indeed; sad�nand�mbudhau -in the ocean of bliss; majjati-
plunges.
O Holy Name, You are manifest in two forms: 1. the Supreme Person described by
the Holy Name, and 2. the sound vibration of the Holy Name. We know that the second
form is more merciful than the first. Even a person who commits many offenses to
the first form, may become always plunged into an ocean of bliss by serving the
second with his voice.

ramya-cid-ghana-sukha-svar�pi�e
n�ma gokula-mahotsav�ya te
k���a p�r�a-vapu�e namo nama�
O name that destroys the many sufferings of they who take shelter of You, O
name that is the form of delightful and intense spiritual bliss, O name that is a
festival of happiness for Gokula, O perfect and complete Holy Name of Lord K���a, I
bow down and offer my respects to You. I bow down and offer my respects to You.

sphura me rasane rasena sad�
n�rada-of N�rada; v���-of the lute; ujj�vana-the life; sudh�-of nectar; �rmi-
waves-niry�saessence; m�dhur�-sweetness; p�ra-flood; tvam� -YTou; k���a-of K���a;
n�ma -O n�me; k�ma�-if You wish; sphura -please appear; me -of me; rasane -of the
tongue; rasena -with nectar; sad�-always.
O life of N�rada's v���, O flood of the waves of sweet nectar, O Holy Name of
Lord K���a, please sweetly appear on my tongue.
