Clean the hub guide with the cleaning tool 9998197. Keep the hub fixed during the cleaning, locking it with a wooden
wedge in one of the wheel studs.

Turn the adjustment device so that both measuring shoulders are above the second row of rivets, from the eccentric
housing. This procedure works for both the primary shoe and the secondary shoe.
P = Primary shoe
S = Secondary shoe
a = Brake key rotation direction
The primary shoe (P) is just after the eccentric housing, from the wheel rotation direction (forward). The other is the
secondary shoe (S).

Note: The primary shoe should not contact the adjustment device on the second row of rivets. If this happens,
disassemble the cover and transversal shaft and adjust the primary shoe to achieve the desired play.

Check if the primary shoe is still in contact with the adjustment device in A, as shown in the illustration on item 5.
Check if the primary shoe play is 0.5 mm by measuring above the second row of rivets.

If the primary shoe play is not correct, unfasten the cover and transversal shaft. The play should adjusted to 0.5 mm in
the primary and secondary shoes.
Specifications:
0.5 mm

If the brake linings are oversize, the secondary play should be adjusted until lean in the second row of rivets.
The primary shoe should have a 0.2 mm play.

0.2 mm

Remove the adjustment device.
Install the brake drum.

Always measure the lever stroke (C) after the adjustment. The automatic adjusting lever strokes depend on the lever
length and the brake cylinder dimension. Refer to Brake stroke basic values with automatic adjustment (MAJ).
