1 Introduction
This manual provides users of Interacoustics OtoRead™ Module information required in order to save
measurements recorded using the OtoRead™ hardware to a laptop/PC.
This manual will only describe the use of the OtoRead™ Module. Please refer to your OtoRead™ Clinical or
Screener operational manual for the use of the OtoRead™ hardware.

In order to save the OtoRead™ recordings to the specific patient, the OtoRead™ Module must be used in
conjunction with the OtoAccess™ database.

Before the OtoRead™ can be used with OtoAccess™ – the OtoRead™ Module must be installed on the PC
that the OtoRead™ is connected to.
The OtoRead™ Module is used for:
• Uploading OAE test results from the OtoRead™ to a laptop/PC.
• Displaying all relevant OAE test results including Distortion Product and Transient Evoked-Grams (DP or
TE-Grams) and Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNR) as bar chart or line chart.
• Printing numeric and graphical test results from two ears on one page.

3 Installation and System Setup
3.1 OtoRead™ Module Software Installation
It is recommended to use the OtoRead™ and OtoRead™ Module together with OtoAccess™ using a
connection to an available USB or Serial port.

The OtoReadTM Module can be installed with either OtoAccessTM or run as a standalone application.

1. When the OtoReadTM Module is used in conjunction with the OtoAccessTM database, patient
demographics together with OAE test results can be stored.
2. When the OtoRead™ Module is used as standalone, it is not possible to have patient information
(e.g., Name, ID number, date of birth etc) stored together with the test results. Only OAE recordings
can be stored.

To use the software in conjunction with a OtoAccessTM, make sure the database is installed prior to the
OtoReadTM Module installation. Follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions provided to install the
relevant database.

Insert the installation DVD and follow the steps in the installation wizard to install the OtoReadTM Module
software. If the installation procedure does not start automatically, click “Start”, then go to “My Computer”
and double click the DVD/CD-RW drive to view the contents of the installation DVD. Double click the
“setup.exe” file to initiate the installation.

5.1 Interpreting Results

The Results section of the main window shows a DP or TE Gram, Signal-To-Noise Ratio (SNR) bar
graph, and the overall Test Result (PASS, REFER, NOISY, or NO SEAL).
Example of Pass result – displayed as Bars
The Y-Axis displays the dB Sound Pressure level.
The Blue (left ear) and the Red (right ear) indicates the total level of the OAE present at this frequency.
The grey color in the bottom of each bar is the noise floor (NF).
The number at the top of the each bar is the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR = OAE level minus the NF).
The green line displays the waveform reproducibility as a percentage.
