These batteries are classified UN 2794

If you conform completely to Special Provision 598 the transport is not subject to ADR.
In this case:
no hazard labelling or marking is required on the pallet,
no hazard labelling or marking is required on the truck,
no training for the driver
no other specific packaging
Special Provision 598
The following are not subject to the requirements of ADR:
(a) New storage batteries when:

- they are secured in such a way that they cannot slip, fall or be damaged;
- they are provided with carrying devices, unless they are suitably stacked,
e.g. on pallets;
- there are no dangerous traces of alkalis or acids on the outside;
- they are protected against short circuits;
(b) Used storage batteries when:

- their cases are undamaged;

- they are secured in such a way that they cannot leak, slip, fall or be
damaged, e.g. by stacking on pallets;
- there are no dangerous traces of alkalis or acids on the outside of the
articles;
- they are protected against short circuits.

"Used storage batteries" means storage batteries carried for recycling at the end of
their normal service life.

Furthermore you also have to consider the following:

Batteries stacked shall be adequately secured in tiers separated by a layer of non
conductive
material.
Battery terminals shall not support the weight of other superimposed elements.
Batteries shall be packaged or secured to prevent inadvertent movement. Any cushioning
material
used shall be inert.

In any case you can find in Eurobat website the Guidelines for Transportation of
batteries, even if they are ADR 2007 edition, no changes there are for Lead acid batteries
in ADR 2009.

Aceste baterii sunt clasificate UN 2794

In cazul in care va conformati complet Prevederii Speciale 598, transportul nu este
supus cerintelor ADR.
In acest caz:
nu este necesara etichetarea sau marcarea pe palet pentru riscuri;
nu este necesara etichetarea sau marcarea pe camion pentru riscuri;
nu este necesara pregatirea soferului;
nu este necesara nicio alta ambalare specifica.

Prevederea speciala 598

Urmatoarele nu sunt supuse cerintelor ADR:
(a) Depozitarea bateriilor noi cand:
- sunt securizate in asa fel incat sa nu poata aluneca, cadea sau deteriora;
- sunt prevazute cu dipozitive de transport, cu exceptia cazului in care sunt aranjate
corespunzator, de ex. pe paleti;
- nu sunt urme periculoase de baze sau acizi la exterior;
- sunt protejate impotriva scurt circuitelor;

(b) Depozitarea bateriilor uzate cand:

- carcasele sunt intacte;
- sunt securizate in asa fel incat sa nu existe scurgeri, sa nu poata aluneca, cadea sau
deteriora, de ex. prin stivuirea pe paleti;
- nu sunt urme periculoase de baze sau acizi la exteriorul articolelor;
- sunt protejate impotriva scurt circuitelor;

"Depozitarea bateriilor uzate" inseamna baterii uzate transportate pentru reciclare la

sfarsitul duratei de viata normale.

Trebuie, de asemenea luate in considerare urmatoarele:

Bateriile stivuite trebuie securizate in mod adecvat, pe niveluri, separate de un strat de
material non conductor.
Bornele bateriilor nu trebuie sa suporte greutatea altor elemente suprapuse.
Bateriile trebuie sa fie ambalate sau securizate in asa fel incat sa se previna miscarile
accidentale. Toate materialele folosite pentru amortizare trebuie sa fie inerte.

In orice caz puteti gasi pe site-ul EUROBAT Ghidul de transport pentru baterii, chiar
daca este editia ADR 2007, nu au fost facute modificari pentru bateriile acide cu plumb la
ADR 2009.
