Codes And Standards

The structural design will basically conform to the latest revision of codes
and recommendation of INDIAN STANDARDS specifications.

For manufactured items the recommendations of manufacturer for

PROPRIETORY ITEMS regarding the use, design criteria, installation
instructions and properties will be adopted with appropriate guarantees for
performance.

The following are the various Design Codes that shall be followed for
the structural design of the various components of structure. These shall
be supplemented, wherever required, by guidelines from various
international codes and literature issued by different Government of India
Undertakings.

Design of steel structures By Prof. S.Ramamrutham, published by-

Dhanpat rai publishing company

Code of practice for Structural safety of building and loading

Code of practice for Design Loads for buildings and structures

Criteria for Earthquake Resistant design of structures (Part-I).

Code of practice for plain and reinforced concrete.

The following are the various Design Codes that shall be followed for
the material specification.

Ordinary Grade Portland Cement.

Design Standards

The following is a summary of the various Design Standards that will be

adopted for the various structural components of bridges
Design Loading
As per IRS Bridge Rules
As per Door manufacturer recommended

Wind pressure effect on the structure as per clause wind pressure as per
IS-875-1987.

As per IS: 1893-2002 (Zone-IV )

Load Considered :-
Following loads have been considered while designing the structural
drawing for the Hangar Door
1. Hangar Door Weight
2. Self contained weight (weight of steel structure)
3. Wind Load
4. Temperature Rise & Fall

Material Specification:
Steel:
As per IS: 2062 Quality 'B' Grade designation E250 (Fe 410 W) fully
killed & normalised/ controlled cooled.

Welding Rod shall be used of reputed make

(Advani / Mangalam or equivalent)

The steel members / Plates shall be strictly as per grades

mentioned in design report. The make of Steel Shall be ISI.

In case the makes approved by CPWD is not available / delayed delivery

then similar make as per IS Standard (Tata Structra, APL Apollo,
Jindal, Surya etc.), duly approve by competent authority shall be used.

Door manufacturer recommended for 2x3 leg system structure as

per sketch attached. When the door is closed, wind load will be very
high causing appreciable foundation size. Due to large size of foundation,
it is required to keen the columns away from the existing wall and also
necessary to cover the space between door columns and existing
structure to make it waterproof and bird/ rat free, providing extra
structure to comply the requirements.
The structure designed is with 4 No column on either side without
which is may not be possible due to below mentioned reason:-
High Uplift/ downward force due to wind load on closed door;
Proper Load transfer;
Existing structure foundation overlapping with main load
bearing column;
Availability of space and adhering to the dimensions of door
manufacturer.
