Research, Technology, and Higher
Education, Muhammad Nasir, the LGBT
community corrupts the morals of the
nation. He stated that universities should
be able to uphold moral values and the
values of the ancestors of Indonesia and
prohibited LGBT people to participate in
higher education (university campuses).
 Regarding the existence of LGBT activities on university campuses,
Nasir said that each university has the right (to allow or ban some
kind of activities) and to determine in more detail which corridors
are allowed and which are not.

"It is for the university campuses to decide, (because) there will be

autonomy given to them. Let each campus do (the prohibition), we
will not intervene," said Nasir.

The Rector of Andalas University (Unand) Tafdil Husni said

that he would not revoke the policy for prospective students to
write a non-LGBT statement.

“If they don’t sign the form, then they can’t enter Unand.” he
said to Tempo on Tuesday, 2 May 2017.

Students who sign the form but are identified as part of LGBT
community will be sanctioned. "One of the sanctions is
rehabilitation, before we expel from the university," he said.
